	Cait continued to toss parademons aside with her water tentacles when she spots Ty through the open door. "TY!" she yelled and water lashed out in all directions. She had to get down there. Cait gathered every drop of water she could pull from the surrounding area. Sheets of ice formed along both sides between her and the door. She started running. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

In the fantasy world, Ty is out in the gardens with Cait. He turns, then pauses. "Funny, do you hear Allanah's voice?" he asks. Then he shrugs it off. This is too important. He turns to the love of his life. "Cait... there's something I need to say to you."

In the real world, the powerful psionic wills behind Ty's mind compel him to twitch slightly, but that's all. Even they can't overcome the combination of his desire to remain trapped, and his unconscious use of Ivy's powers to further empower his Mercy.

He shifted slightly, a touch of a twitch of one eye, but that's it.

In the dream, he's briefly interrupted as one of the scientists brush by him, saying something that sounds familiar, but he can't quite make out. Slightly annoyed, he leads Cait a little deeper into the gardens where they might not be interrupted.

"Anyway, like I was saying, there's something I need to ask you." he says, fishing out the box with the ring in it, and lowering to one knee.

No. No. There had to be a way to get Ty out from under whatever this thing was. He didn't seem to be responding to anything.

"Ty! Please! Wakeup!" No response.

She had to do something. She couldn't just let Ty stay like this.

A conversation they had came to mind. She didn't want to hurt Ty, but at this point she was desperate enough to try it.

"Keep them off of me for a few minutes while I try something!" she shouted to her teammates.

She closed her eyes and concentrated on forming a mental link with Ty.

Its surprisingly easy - part of his brain includes Ocean Master, and somewhere in there, King Shark and a few others. Cait enters the Mercy illusion just in time to see Ty opening up a ring box and kneeling in front of her double.

This time he hears the words of the people in the background. He knows exactly what they're saying.

He looks at the new Cait appearing with some surprise. "But you're right here."

Tears formed in her eyes when it dawned on her what she saw in Ty's mind. Oh Gods. Her hand went to her mouth and she swallowed back a sob.

"Ty, this isn't real," she said after some time. "As much as it would be nice to be real it's not. Mongul took you to his base and we came to rescue you. You have some black plant thing on you and you weren't responding so I..." The tears fells from her eyes.

"Mongul? Black Plant?" Its not coming back to him too quick, but its Cait telling him, right? And she's crying. He can't bear to see her cry.

"But I remember everything, us, your dad, everything. We worked so hard for this. And I've been working up the courage to say this to you so long. I need to say... to say..."

Why is the ring in the box yellow?

"No, please... no."

Unbidden, a thousand tactical scenarios spring to mind. If there was any doubt before, there isn't now. Both here, and in the real world, Ty's eyes go blank.

"For you... anything. Just... stay in my mind, ok? Help me keep steady. And one more thing... get people back. Way back."

He looks to the Cait he was proposing to. He tears up as he slips the yellow ring onto his hand instead of hers. "I'm so sorry Cait... there's something I need to say."

"I love you too, Cait. And someday, maybe I'll get the chance for real. I have to go now."

He stands, looking to the open skies. In the real world, his body flexes, and in both, a couple seconds after Cait's warning, the word echoes throughout the base. Even Mongul is given pause. The black mercy disintegrates completely, and the parademons that were trying to storm the room are thrown back by the power of the godwave as he speaks one word, the one he'd heard more and more whispers of as the scenario went wrong...

"SHAZAM!"

	Cait was thrown back and hit the side of the dome that held the ocean back. She felt the water on the other side and wanted to pull it in to her, but she knew she couldn't. Not yet. She staggered to her feet, biting back the pain from the impact. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
