The few days after the attack had been very busy for Cait. Atlantis didn't run itself and there was so much to do it wasn't even funny. Cait knew what her father did and what went into running a kingdom, but she never realized how tiring it was. Cait was exhausted at the end of each day. She collapsed on her bed in the evening and didn't move until sunrise.

The work was hard, but thankfully the council was supportive and so was Lord Garth. They got through the few days while Arthur was recuperating from his injuries. When the royal physician informed her that Arthur would be ready to resume his responsibilities, Cait readied herself to go home to San Francisco.

She was in her room gathering a few things to take back with her since she had very little there.

"Atlantis was attacked. We went to help." Cait sighed deeply. "I had a fight with Arthur. He won't change his mind about forcing me to marry Cerdian or another /Atlantean/. I walked away from Arthur and from Atlantis forever."

"He won't budge and Atlantis and the succession comes before me." She sniffled. She was foolish to think her father would stand up for her and allow her to have something she wanted. "I had to leave."

She put a hand on his cheek. "I love you too much to lose you."

"I know, my love. I know what I've done and all that I've given up." She gave him a light kiss. "You're worth it. You're my world now. No longer do I have to think about Atlantis or Arthur."

"No. Atlantis shall be left to her own devices. Arthur would say you were attacking and find reason to kill you. I can lose Atlantis, but I cannot lose you."

Cait gave him a fierce kiss. "I'm not hungry. I want you to hold me."

"Not for that." Well, not entirely for that. "For Atlantis being on the surface... but ok." he sighs, settling in, kissing her back, and wrapping his arms around her.

Cait settled in his arms and sighed happily. "Don't blame yourself for that either," she said. She kissed him again. "This is where I belong and where I'm happy."

"That sounds good to me, love. Resting here for the night is a good idea. I'll stay with you tonight." He usually didn't, just letting her sleep, and getting back to work - but now and then, even if he doesn't sleep, he can at least rest beside her at night.

Cait smiled and closed her eyes. She was safe and warm in the security of his arms. She pushed down thoughts of Atlantis and her father and concentrated on the link she shared with Ty.
