Houseguests Hanging Out
The prospect of going back to school has Josh a bit nervous. He's not worried about grades or anything like that, confident he can handle the material. It's all those people. But thankfully, he doesn't have to go yet.

Instead, Josh is staying at Henry's place while the Green Lantern is at school. And since he doesn't want to be a complete mooch, the healer's in the kitchen cleaning. He hums a little tune while he finishes the dishes. "There..." he trails off as he completes the task.

"Nah, I'm cool. Just tired." laughs Avalon a bit before he takes the glass and drains about half of it in one gulp.

Setting the glass aside, he takes a good long look at Josh and then asked softly "I.. hope it's not asking anything too personal, but..." he draws in a breath, and then says "I.. I asked Henry to please be considerate of your feelings the other morning, and knowing Henry, he probably did it anyways. Are you.. okay?"

Josh smiles and nods. "Sure thing. Just let me know if you want anything and I'll do my best to whip it up," he offers.

He blinks a few times at the look and tilts his head to the side. His happy expression falters at the question though. He tries to smile again but just sighs. "I...I'll be okay. Same as always...just thought that maybe...maybe things would change for once cause so many other good things were happening..."

Avalon couldn't help but affect a sympathetic expression - after all he had been trying to flirt with Henry for weeks and Henry never noticed it.. and kept running off to suck face with any and everyone else.

Not that he mentioned that to Josh.

"Yea.. Henry can be really insensitive that way.. It's been really bothering me because I keep trying to.. to talk to him about what's going on with me and he just doesn't get it." Avalon replies. "I asked him to please be more careful with your feelings but... He can be a douche."

Avalon just shrugs a bit, his hands coiling around the glass of orange juice as he idly looked into it. "I don't know, but things are different here than back home.. And a lot of what I do goes unnoticed.. not that anyone is trying to be rude or not notice, but my ways are too subtle."

Ocean colored eyes look to Josh, and Avalon offers a bit of a smile then as he says "I'm willing to deal with it, and keep on moving but.. It's still hard, y'know?"

	Josh takes a deep breath and smiles. He pauses when Avalon meets his gaze. What is it with these Lanterns and have amazing eyes? He pushes off the spot he's leaning and moves around to Ava's side. The close contact just makes the prim and proper Avalon take on a shy expression. He then tries to shift, to not slouch quite so much as he looks to Josh's face. "But I know that Henry was more of an ass to you than he has been to me. I at least have the disconnect of our rings.. I.. I don't think that it's respectful of my sacred duty to behave in certain ways."

Avalon then gives a sigh, and looks Josh in the face as he says "Without my ring, I'm just.. a guy. In so many ways I almost wish I'd been born into this, because then I wouldn't find the responsibility so.. isolating. The needs of the man though, out weigh my few puny discomforts."

Josh shakes his head. "No...he's been an ass to both of us," he says. "Not respectful to your duty? Wait...what?" he asks, confused.

"Trust me, Ava...being born into something doesn't make it any less...isolating," he says, letting his free hand flash white just a moment. "I don't know..." he trails off, trying to figure out how to put his thoughts into the proper words.

"I don't think that it's right for me to.. become entangled.. with Henry because of my ring and my duty." he explains. "I was chosen, and I took my oath very solemnly. I envy that of you, a little bit. You're not bound the way I am, and so you are free to explore whatever you like."

He then shrugs a bit, smiling sadly to Josh as he says "They make it a stigma to have those special powers on this planet from what I've seen. It's just wrong."

Josh frowns at this. "That's...kinda silly, Ava," he says. "I really don't think your bosses would be mad if you got entangled with your partner. And if they did then they really need to take another look at the whole hope thing," he says. "I mean...no offense but it seems really not right to say that two people can't be together just because they work together."

He blinks a few times and then gives the lantern's shoulder a squeeze. "It is..." he sighs. "Sensing so much life all the time but feeling so apart from it," the blond just shrugs.

	"It's different than just work Josh." replies Avalon softly. He doesn't expect Josh to understand how sacred his duties as a Blue Lantern are. He didn't want to be a dick or ram it down anyone's throat. "You've just had a bad run of luck.. I know that once everyone else meets you, they'll think you are just great." says Avalon. 	Josh sighs a little and squeezes Avalon's shoulder again. "Sorry...I just," he frowns. "I want you to be happy too, ya know?" "I really hope you're right, Ava," he says. "Like.. what?" asks Avalon, his eyes growing wide. Henry has put his wings away for the day (in case something came up) but Avalon was still having trouble with the human concept of money and how much things cost. It amazed him that simple things cost so much.

"We could.. Take a walk I guess?" he then offers. He pauses, then says with a gentle smile "I know that I deserve to be happy to, and I am."

The whole "two good lookin' guys" made Avalon actually flush a bit, and he gave a nervous little titter in reply. It was the hug though that made him turn fully red, and Avalon sheepishly returned it in kind. Josh was such a wonderful person that it was really hard to hold anything against him. Avalon was glad that he had not let jealousy or rage overtake him.

"TV is horrible. I hate that thing." he then says, laughing some. "I think I might have twenty dollars that Henry gave me just in case, but I have no idea what it might get us."

	Josh smiles slightly as he senses the flush, his own cheeks going a bit red. Careful, Josh. "I don't like TV much either but other people love it so," he shrugs. He takes the offered hand and returns the smile. "Oh boy. We very well might get lost after all," he says. "I don't know this city at all but I'm sure we can find a nice park." 	"Ring, tell us where to find a park with a lot of vegetation." says Avalon. There is a park approximately 4.2 miles away, eastward. replies the ring to Avalon's request. Grinning to Josh, Avalon gives his hand a squeeze and leads the boy out into the sunny backyard.

"I'm so happy to be able to share this with you," he then shares, "I love flying with others.." He takes Josh's suggestion though and makes sure to hide them, shielded with the ring's power. Once they were high enough up so that others couldn't see them, he dropped the shield.

"It's terrible that humans can't always fly on their own power," he then says, "I'd die if I couldn't do this on my own.."

Josh follows happily, making sure the door is closed up behind them.

"Flying the other day was pretty awesome," he agrees. He holds onto Avalon's hand tighter as they rise and relaxes when they stop. "Wow..." he trails off. "Things feel so different up here..."

"Most humans don't have wings or magic space rings," he chuckles. "I'm glad you can fly then. I certainly wouldn't want you to die."

"Most Nalorians don't, either." replies Avalon softly, his eyes shyly moving to meet Josh's. "The people of my father's planet are winged - and I was born and raised on my mother's planet. It made things.. interesting.. while I as indentured, let me assure you."

"But flying has always been my escape, and it's something that I do to get away.. to clear my mind." he shares.
