Buy Me Some Peanuts and Crackerjacks (Zoe, eventually Trey)
It was Opening Day at Papp Stadium. Spring was in the air, the Star City Rockets were going up against the Central City Stars, and GK Walker was giddy.
He'd gone to meet Zoe, enough makeup on his cheek to cover the now-healing cut, and now they were walking toward the stadium. "Maybe I should get a car," he said, thinking aloud.

Zoe is not so into the game. It was a means to an end, getting out of the house without Mom scared of zombies eating them, keeping the myth alive that she had a social life, and she truly did like GK. He was never boring.

She amused herself by commenting on the pitching talent and tossing things into the small waste can in the corner. She never missed.

"You see all the games?" she asked Trey.

"As many as I'm able." Trey says, eating a few peanuts of his own as he watches Zoe for a moment, then returns to the game.

"Dad and were supposed to see the last home game a couple of weeks ago, but he ended up having to work. We usually sit up here and talk about players, stats...everything. My old man knew a lot about baseball." Trey says.

"Dad was pretty easy to talk to most of the time, but there are always some things you can't talk with parents about, you know?"

	"My little brother does, but he always watched them on TV with Dad. Dad came to all his Little League games and he doesn't quite understand about Dad yet." Trey says. "He says that Green Arrow came into his room and made him and my sister go to sleep." Trey says, anger creeping into his tone. "What kind of piece of crap does that to kids?" "Yeah, he did something to put them to sleep. The kids were terrified, but said someone named Red Robin and someone else called Jade Canary showed up and saved them. Don't know who either of them are.

I just know Green Arrow helped Merlyn kill my father. Or maybe he did it himself. I don't know. I just can't believe they haven't already kicked the guy's door in and dragged him to lock-up." Trey says.

"God, best of luck there. The facts are hard to sort out with these things -- the papers still can't agree on whether it was the Arrow or Merlyn who broke into that prison to kill some psycho, far's I can tell. I guess the procedural stuff can't come into effect until they know what they're doing."

"I wish I knew. I can't get in touch with the guy and no one else knows how to. The cop in charge of the case, Detective Falconeri, hasn't told me anything else, either." Trey says.

"My dad used to be able to get the cops to actually do their jobs and he made sure they got the funding they needed. Now that he's dead, they're conveniently forgetting that." Trey says.

GK bites back mention of Falconieri's general air of competence and unusual taste in jewelry. He's not supposed to know the guy.

"If the littles say they saw Green Arrow, even if they don't have enough to charge him, they should at least get one of those --" GK bites his lip. "Are they still called 'material witness warrants' or is that only in old books from the '30s? My mom kinda never wanted me learning about legal stuff."

Zoe's words take Trey by surprise. He hadn't known her to dislike the superhero crowd, but her feelings sounded as personal as his did.

"I'm not sure how much they can use from my brother and sister. They're still trying to process that one of the 'good guys' didn't stop some psycho from killing our dad." Trey says.

"But yeah, you'd have an easier time busting the mayor for jaywalking than getting the cops to go after the cape crowd." he says.

"Yeah, I'm in college. Was hoping to finish, but I'm not sure how well that's going to work out. My stepmom isn't doing so well after what happened, either. I'm pretty much holding things together for all of us right now." Trey says.

"I'm studying political science. Someday, I want to run for office and get the government to make all these vigilante types to either unmask or hang up their tights." Trey says.

"So many of them just go out there with no clue or care about how many lives they bust up while they do their thing. I wish someone...I wish someone would just show them." Trey says bitterly.

	"Well, if you need to, you can drop down to part time for a while. For those of us who don't have to worry about maintaining scholarships, that's handy." And if Trey wasn't a fellow Trust Fund Baby, they wouldn't be having this conversation surrounded by bodyguards. On the latter part, GK just fidgets slightly and watches the game. "I agree. No one is above the law, right? That's a lot of what built this country on. If these super-types would just work do it right, there wouldn't be a misunderstanding where a bunch of them smash up a city while they try to figure out who's on what side." Trey says, grabbing some peanuts from a nearby table.

"And no, GK, my dad was big on me getting an education, so he paid by way through school. I love school, but part-time is going to have to be the option until I can get things back on the right track for my family." he says.
