Medical miracles.
After much making out in the middle of the battlefield, followed by a night of intense passion back at their apartment (God, she'd missed being alive, not to mention Zach), Mia woke up early the following moment after her return from the grave and made her way to Star City General Hospital. Alive again or not, she was probably still HIV positive and would need to get back on her strict regimen of medication.

There was a lot of explaining to the doctors why someone who had been legally dead for the past few months was suddenly alive and kicking like nothing had happened. Mia filed out some forms for insurance, and then went through a series of various tests to see if everything was in order.

A couple of hours after her tests, the doctor came back into the room, a truly astounded look on his face as he stared at Mia's charts.

"Ms. Dearden, there were some...unusual results in your tests. We'd like to keep you under observation for a few days."

Mia nodded, wondering what could have possibly happened. Had something happened when she came back to trigger her HIV into full-blown AIDS? She didn't want to think about it.

They were calling it a medical miracle. They had run test after test, Mia's arm was sore from having needles poked into it to draw her blood, and she was pretty sure that if they ran another test on her, she'd lose her mind.

The doctors couldn't come up with any other explanation, other than it was a miracle and that she should be very lucky, because "Someone out there was looking out for her".

Mia Dearden was one hundred percent HIV free. She was clean. After all those years, she was free of the virus that she had always known would one day claim her life.

She truly was getting a second chance at life. Not just another ten years, but as many as she could hope for.

Mia left Star City General, a smile on her face. She called Zach and left a message on his voicemail, saying that she was going to take them out for dinner at the best place in town.

She certainly had a lot of reasons to celebrate.

"The insanity's an acquired taste," Mia said with a laugh.

She waited until everyone was settled in and started eating before making her first announcement.

"Like Zach and I said, we have a couple of things to tell you," she said.

"The first being, as you know, I was in the hospital for a few days so the doctors could run some tests on me," she said. Mia reached over, picking up the papers next to her chair.

"At first...I thought that my HIV might have been triggered into full-blown AIDS with my coming back from the dead...but..." Mia couldn't help it any more, she grinned holding out the papers with her test results on it.

"The doctors are calling it a medical miracle. I don't know what else to call it, but I agree with them.

I'm clean. I'm a hundred percent HIV free."

It takes Tim a moment to process what Mia just said. Since he's known her, she's lived with illness. She never let it define her, but she also never let anyone, save those closest to her, see her suffer with it. Even then, that was still too many people for Mia.

And now she's free of that burden.

"I always knew that if anyone would beat this, Mia, it would be you." Tim says, getting up and hugging her.

Roy is shocked speechless for the first time today. Still, there's a mile-wide grin on his face.

"Mia, that is amazing. Congratulations. Now, I don't suppose you're going to quit patrolling and open up a bar, are you?

Because that was my idea. I was thinking of opening up a bar, but I could always use a partner. Can't let Guy Gardner corner the market." Roy teases.
