Over My Head
If someone were to ask Dinadan Palmer what his favorite part of the week was, he’d tell them Friday afternoon; specifically late Friday afternoon when the school week is over and he’s finished his weapons’ training for the day, and the weekend stretches out glorious and free ahead of him. It’s exactly that time now, and he feels at ease with his world.

He weaves a little as he walks to his bedroom, since he hasn’t quite mastered the art of walking and towel-drying his hair at the same time, but he doesn’t knock into anything or trip over his own feet (today), so it doesn’t really matter. He reaches his bedroom and tosses the towel into his laundry hamper, flicking on the radio for some music while he gets dressed and makes plans for his freedom.

This is ultimately why Dinadan is playing air-guitar in his underwear when Henry puts his plan into action.

He's so skittish, it'd be irritating if it weren't so damn endearing.

Utterly not caring about her state of dress (cami and panties), she makes her way over to him, giving him a hug and kiss good morning before he can potentially retreat in shock.

"That's just fine, hon. Morning to you."

Wargarble.

"Morning," he says, kissing back after a micro-moment of brain-freeze.

Uh. Breakfast. Yes. "Let me go make sure it's still warm."

"You made enough for both of us? What a sweetie." She gropes his butt as he scoots towards the kitchen, smirking as she struts after him, pulling one of the stools up to the counter.

"Yes, I mean, it would have been--" Yeep! He jumps a little at the butt-grab and the blush mounts an attack on his neck-regions again.

He moves over to the oven and pulls out a plate full of what look like jumbo-sized cookies, which he holds out to Petra. "I found most of the ingredients in your kitchen, so I don't think there's anything that you're allergic to in here. And I can pay you back if you were saving the ingredients for something."

Petra smiles and helps herself to one, munching away in approval. "Good shtuff..." She finishes it quickly and swallows.

"Never sweat the details honey. You sure you don't want to live here? I could definitely use someone who cooks like this." She chuckles.

Dinadan rubs the back of his neck and ducks his head and grins a little. "We still haven't actually hit the twenty-four-hour mark, you know," he says. "But I'll keep the offer in mind."

"You do that." Petra helps herself to more cookies, running stuff through her head.

"You got any plans for today? This is good for now, but it's almost lunchtime, and I could absolutely murder a triple bacon cheeseburger right about now."

"Uh, not at the moment, but I probably should go home and change my clothes and make sure my dad found my note so he doesn't call the JLA to come find me or anything," Dinadan says. He's pretty sure that his dad would have found the note he left, but he wouldn't want him to worry.

"It's cute the way you fuss over everything. Doesn't it tire you out though?" She tilts her head.

"I mean, Mom and Daddy love me to bits, but I could vanish for at least a week before they got seriously worried."

"Nahh," Dinadan says, shaking his head. "It's something I just do automatically." Beat. "I'm not 'fussing'. I'm alert to possible snags in plans."

He runs his fingers through his hair. "Checking in is less important up here than it is down in New Morlaidh, but I like to keep in practice so I don't get sloppy down there, you know?"

"I don't plan, I have flashes of genius, that I let work their magic." Petra grins.

"I wish I could see what it's like there. I'm not exactly a granola girl, but I like exotic places out in nature."

"Well, maybe you can visit sometime," Dinadan says. "We'll have to make sure that shrinking you down doesn't make you explode, obviously. And you'd really have to be on alert, even with your powers. The rain forest is especially dangerous when you're that small."

Petra reaches out and strokes a finger over his chest. "Yes, but I'll have a big strong prince to protect me after all." She smirks all foxy-like.

Yep, there's that blush again. It takes no prisoners.

"Er, yes?" he flounders a bit. "I mean, at your service, milady."

And she goes right on with stroking. It's a rather nice chest, in her opinion.

"My hero."

Oh there's a look growing in her eye.

Argle.

Dinadan sees that look in her eye. He wonders if it means that he ought to start backing up.

"Would you be interested in rejoining me in my bed and finding some way to kill time before we go out for lunch?" She gives him a lazy and affectionate smile. Dialed down a bit from 'predatory' per se.

"I'll even let you check in with your dad first."

A pause.

"It's okay if you're still not up for sex. Some more of last night's couch related fun is just fine."

As she no longer appears to be planning on tackling him onto the nearest flat surface, Dinadan relaxes a bit.

"More stuff like the couch is fine," he says. "And, uh, for the record, full-on sex probably isn't going to happen any time soon. Not because I don't think you're hot or anything, because you are really hot, but I'm really a take it slow kind of guy. And I repeat what we talked about last night, with the totally-cool-with-you-seeing-and-having-sex-with-other-people thing. Uh. Yes."

Crap, he's rambling again.

Petra strokes his cheek and kisses him. "Mhmm. Got it." She plants a few more kisses, along his neck, then saunters off to the bedroom.

She pauses, posing in the doorframe just a little. "Dinadan... I think this is going to work out just fine." She smiles and gives a little roll of her shoulder before she disappears into the bedroom.

The part of Dinadan's brain that is still capable of non-candy-colored thought notes that he is going to spend a lot of time in this relationship being incoherent. That part also notes that he apparently doesn't care.

He pulls himself together enough to tell it to shut up, sends a text to his dad, and follows Petra back into her bedroom.
