And then... there was Hope.
Brother Avalon had been traveling for a long time, but he would have gladly traveled twice as far if it meant reaching Earth in time. The cry for Hope had reached Odym, and his fellow Lanterns had been quick to react. Unfortunately, things were so strained across the galaxy that they could only afford one Blue Lantern.. and so Brother Avalon had been sent.

Outside of the atmosphere, Earth is a beautiful blue and green planet. Avalon finds himself unfurling his wings, his breath caught in his throat because of it's beauty. He knows that this very well may be his last assignment - Saint Walker had made it quite clear that Avalon was to remain on Earth until hope could be restored to that sector of the universe. It could take years.. maybe even Avalon's lifetime.

The boy does not find that intimidating however, and instead of simply flying into the clouds, he takes a moment to consult his ring. Saint Walker has given Avalon another tip - the name of a certain Green Lantern whom he should seek out immediately upon arrival.

"Ring. Locate Henry Jordan." he murmurs, his voice soft and accented in a way that is almost musical.

<Green Lantern Henry Jordan is currently located in Coast City.> replies the ring, and Avalon nods his blond head to the thing.

"Take me to him." replies the Nalorian, his lips curling into a smile. Avalon can not help but feel excitement quicken within him; he is thrilled to meet this Green Lantern. Lantern battery in hand, Avalon wills himself to this place called Coast City, to wherever Henry Jordan might be.

Henry's ring hand is connected to his arm, which is resting on the shoulder of the school's star soccer player.

"I... have never really..." the guy is saying, even as his mouth moves closer to Henry's.

Some part of Henry is metaphorically rolling his eyes. He's been checking Henry out for weeks in the locker room at school. He just hasn't had the courage to act on his impulses. It's taken most of the evening while they're supposedly here studying, with his father gone all night, before he's finally gotten him to loosen up. The guy needs to know it's alright to feel this way, and not be ashamed.

He leans in for the kiss...

Suddenly the room is filled with blue light, and a figure takes form within it, forming into something that seems.. fantastical. The frame that takes shape is obviously not one from this world - there are no six limbed creatures on Earth.

Yet, within that bright flash of blue light, the figure that is left hovering a few feet above the carpeting is a surprising one. One that few humans might expect to see - that of an angel. Silvery feathers spread wide, framing the slender form of a boy who has not quite yet become a man. Henry's star soccer player is no doubt quite surprised.

"You are Henry Jordan." the figure states, his accent almost European, but not quite. "I've come a very long way to find you." Hopefully Henry will recognize the symbol emblazoned on the boy's chest - that of the Blue Lantern Corps.

Henry jumps, spinning around. His ring, suddenly visible, is glowing brightly, and recharged to incredible levels.

His romantic partner runs screaming from the room, heading for the front door, and Henry is torn between chasing after him and decking the Blue Lantern that just showed up un-announced.

Finally, he makes up his mind. He turns to the Blue Lantern. "Secret identity!" he hisses, then runs after Marcus, hoping he can come up with a massive lie quickly.

He'll have to work three times as hard next time.

Wait.. what? Avalon is quite obviously confused with all of this - screaming boys and secret identities and what not. In fact, all he can really do is blink in confusion as Henry tears out of the room after the frightened boy.

Well. Now what? Still terribly confused, Avalon wills himself to the carpet and then folds his wings against his spine. Well. Nothing to do but wait for Henry to return, he supposes.

Were all Earthlings so strange?

Henry catches Marcus, quickly explains some story about how aliens have been coming to talk to him ever since the one crashed into his house last Halloween, promises to meet him later, then gives a quick passionate kiss to say goodbye and give Marcus something to think about until next time.

He heads back in, a little annoyed. He probably would have made it at least to second base tonight.

He looks Avalon over. "...subtlety. You need to work on your subtlety."

"Well - I wasn't expecting you to be... going through a mating dance.. or whatever it was that you were doing." replies Avalon honestly, before he scratches at the back of his as he wrestles with his confusion.

"May I at least offer my apologies?" the boy then asks, expression darkening as it starts to dawn on him that he might have just offended his supposed-to-be-partner.

Avalon shifts his wings, the sound of feathers rustling against one another as he nibbles at his lower lip. He is uncertain now, though he does his best to keep it from showing, as much as he can.

"I have been sent by Saint Walker and the other Blue Lanterns to help you.. Earth is in dire need of Hope, and I've been instructed to help Earth's people find it once more.." he pauses, then adds in a softer tone, "I have been requested to work as your partner.. if you are agreeable."

	"Ground rules?" echoes the alien, who then takes a step forward and offers Henry a bit of a shy smile. "Rules such as.. announce myself before interrupting you with another, perhaps?" he then asks as humor takes over his expression, and he can't help but flash Henry a wide and amused smile. Oh my! That makes Avalon flush darkly, and he shifts a bit under Henry's scrutiny. With a flutter of his lashes, Avalon makes himself take a deep breath and then says softly "I wouldn't want to interrupt.. I shall.. mind your privacy in the future, I promise."

Now this is a wholly new development; Avalon did not expect his new partner to be.. so inclined. It certainly made things a bit more interesting.

That question just caused Avalon to blink a few times, before he then sighed out a deep breath and said "Well.. I don't think that any of that had been considered. I was just sent here to find you. And help." he then adds more softly, "I.. didn't expect to be intruding so much into your life."

Now, Avalon is having to consider a whole host of things. Things like where he was supposed to sleep, and how he might intergrate into this alien culture. But then he realizes - he's yet to even have introduce himself to Henry. Flushing a bit, Avalon offered Henry a bit of a smile and then said softly "I'm sorry - I didn't tell you my name.. I am Avalon N'turi."

Henry had missed it, too. Truth be told, he's only starting to get bloodflow back to his brain again.

But despite his deserved reputation as a horndog, Henry is not completely shallow. He moves to Avalon's side. "Hey, it's cool." He puts a soothing hand on his shoulder. "So you jumped in without thinking. I can understand that." He leads Avalon towards the couch. "I did the same thing when I got my ring."

"I didn't just get my ring.. it was more.. the sheer amount of need that pressed me to hurry." Avalon answers as he lets himself be directed to the couch. "That is one of my flaws - I admit - I always rush off before everything is realized.."

The couch brought up a whole new challenge, and eventually Avalon ends up crouching on the cushion, his wings curled as tightly as he can press them against his spine. Although it's probably a bit of an entertaining thing to watch him try and figure out just what to do with himself.
