Dinah's faceplate peeled back with a slightly organic clicking sound.
"Okay, people," she said. "I know what we just went through was traumatic for some of us. Myself included."
She did a headcount and realized that Jay wasn't among them. Goddammit. This kind of thing doesn't happen. We're the good guys. We're supposed to all come home and the bad guys go to jail, and then we fade out with everybody laughing at a joke the "kid identification" character made. This isn't... this isn't how it goes.
"But right now... right now we need to look beyond ourselves. Whatever this is, it's bigger than all of us. I need everybody here level headed and focused. Because I get the feeling that what we saw tonight was just the tip of the iceberg.
"We call ourselves heroes. Now's the time to prove it. We've got to rise above ourselves and get back in this fight as soon as we can.
"Whatever these things are, no matter who they look like, they aren't our friends and loved ones. Not anymore. They're just meat puppets. And we need to remember that if we're going to stop them."
