Some Things Never Change
Ryan had to say this dimension almost that future place seem less crazy but that one still took the prize in his book. Still there was one thing he knew had to be the same in this verse just like in any of the others he had been too. Criminals still sometimes needed to be beaten up and Ryan did have to admit there was nothing like beating up a criminal to get your mind off things and have some fun.

After spending most of the day pouring through the history of this world which he now felt he was fairly knowledgeable about he really wanted to do that. After talking to some of the locals to the world he found out a few places that he could go to to do just that. After a little bit of looking over the suggestions he used a teleporter to head over to Keystone City. It sounded like a nice place for someone new to this dimension to go and do just that.

After arriving there he did some running along the roof to get to know the city a little more personally before he started looking around to see if there was anything he could do to help people out that evening.

"Okay, maybe I misunderstood you again. You said interdimensional, right? Are you from the future?" she asks. Mitzi not stupid, but she's never met anyone who's done it, like most people.

The waitress brings their food and smiles at the two of them, but Mitzi waits for her to leave before gesturing for Ryan to continue.

Damn, she was going to have to let go of his hand to eat, wasn't she?

"What's it like where you're from?" she asks.

Ryan waited till the waitress was out of earshot so she would not think they were both nuts. Though then again you kind of have to be a little bit of some kind of crazy to want to do the whole superhero thing.

“Yes I said interdimensional,” Ryan says, “Though I’d say my world and your world are roughly at the same point in time so no I’m not from the future.”

Damn that burger smells really good, Ryan thought. But he also knew he had to explain this and really could leave someone hanging like that.

“The world I’m from is a lot like your but at the same time really different,” Ryan explains, “We have places like New York City, London, and Hong Kong, but we don’t have a Keystone City, Metropolis, or Gotham.

We got heroes and teams like that but they aren’t really all that a like. Well Deadpool from my world does from what I read when I got here remind me a bit of Deathstroke from yours a bit.

There’s some small changes in history too like some of the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt differ in some cases.

Also on my world people aren’t always hero friendly and have a tendency to get suspicious about them and what their motives are and can get downright nasty about it.

I could probably go into more detail about stuff if you like.”

"How about we eat first, and then we talk about it more?" she suggests, giving him a smile as she chewed over what he'd told her.

It sounded unbelievable, but then, in a world of people who could literally move faster than a speeding bullet and the like, how could she rule out what Ryan was telling her?

"I've only heard of Deathstroke in quiet whispers, but I don't know anything about him." she says, eating a fry.

"How long have you been doing...this?" she asks, referring to the whole heroing bit.

"Sure eating sounds like a good idea to me," Ryan says.

He really hoped this whole other dimensional thing wouldn't scare her off as he was rather having fun.

"I only know about him from what I read in the justice league archives," Ryan says.

"I've been doing this whole heroing thing for over a year now though I've been doing training and stuff since I was six."

"Wow, that's pretty cool. I got into this whole thing by accident. I haven't always been a good girl." she smiles.

"Actually, I was a bad one for awhile, before I met a few nice people like you. They showed me that I didn't have to do bad things to be a worthwhile person and I've been trying to be good ever since." Mitzi says.

"That type of thing happens I can think of a couple of people in my universe who were like that," Ryan says between mouthfuls of burger.

"Still it's always good to hear about someone else who did that. You do seem like a very nice girl to me," He says.

"That's only because you don't know me very well." Mitzi says somewhat coyly.

"You said earlier that people where you're from aren't always friendly to hero-types. That sounds pretty difficult to live with. I haven't really had to deal with that here. I get free muffins from a baker I saved recently. I told him he didn't have to, but he said he'd be offended if I didn't, so I do." she says.

"How do you stay motivated to help people when people don't want you to?" she asks.

"Well is there anything else I should know about how naughty or nice you are," Ryan asks back.

"It can be but most of them are just scared or ignorant," Ryan says,"Some people can be rather nice but they tend to be a bit more in the know than most. Generally we got when you got when you helped that lady earlier a running thank you. But I don't think anyone would offer free food like that."

"To be honest I know I'm better off with this stuff than some. There's a guy who used to do a lot of heroing in New York Spider-man who was often the press's whipping boy about thing and then there's the x-men and the mutants who basically are feared for the powers in a racist nature because they are generically born different. So I just don't get many thank you is all."

"You should know that I go back and forth between the two." Mitzi teased.

She listens to his story about this Spider-Man and thinks that this guy must be the unluckiest guy in the whole world, at least that she's ever heard of.

"So...is he an actual spider? Not that there's anything wrong with that, and all. Just asking.

And it sounds really mean to call people who are born different. Most people with abilities here are called meta-humans. They're just humans with a little extra added to them, but they aren't monsters or anything. I wasn't around when Superman first came out to everyone, but I hear it was like a parade. The world just embraced him right away. A few people didn't like him, but I think he won everyone over in the end." Mitzi says.

"Your world sounds kind of harsh, after awhile." she says.

"Oh really is there anything particularly naughty that I should look out for or would you just rather surprise me," Ryan says playing back.

"From what my dad told me no but his powers do seem to be derived from spiders," Ryan says, "He also likes to wisecrack a lot too."

"Not sure what's up with that but people are getting a lot more nervous about this stuff since Mutants are now making up a percent of the population now. I guess people are a lot less trusting in my world," Ryan says.

"I'm not really sure what that is but it does seem to be true."

"Surprises are the best part of life, Ryan...mostly. If I tell you what's going to happen, you won't appreciate it as much." she says, chuckles.

"I'm sorry, though. I shouldn't be ragging on your world because it's different. You're obviously a good person, so it can't be all bad. I just hope that people come to trust you like people trust the heroes here." Mitzi says.

"Speaking of...how long are you here for? Do you think maybe we could do this again?" she asks.

"Very true surprise can be a lot of fun or at the very least test out your reaction times. But I'm an optimist so I lean towards the fun option more," Ryan says with a smirk.

"No that's OK. It's definitely an issue in my world that really needs address though how is something that is not easy to solve. But there are definitly good people in my world that take the risk of trusting and helping heroes even when they don't have to or is at a personal risk to themselves," Ryan says. Dectective Flint easily comes to mind for someone who doesn't have to have helped or worked with his dad but did so anyways.

"I can honestly say I have no idea how long I will be here. Could be a month, could be till tonight, I really don't know," Ryan says, "I would definitely like to do this again but I say lets take advantage of this while I'm here and have as much fun as we can while we can."

"Well, seize the moment and all, as they say." Mitzi says.

And then, without warning, she leans in and kisses him quickly.

"By the way, thanks, Hero." she grins, and goes back to her food.

"So, how about you show me some of those moves you used earlier. I could use the pointers so that I don't need to get bailed out next time." Mitzi says.

“You certainly are full of surprises,” Ryan says with a grin having kissed her back during the brief kiss.

“No problem very glad to have helped.”

“Sure that sounds like a good plan to me,” Ryan says, “I can teach you a couple basic things that would definitely be sure to help. Do you have any suggestions for where might be good to do that.”

"I can think of one place no one will see us, but it's a few blocks from here." she says.

"If you're up for another work-out after dinner, we can go." she says.

Mitzi finishes her food quickly and neatly, then pays the tab for the two of them. Thank goodness for winning the lottery.

When Ryan is ready, Mitzi stands up and offers him her hand.

"Care to follow me, Ryan?" she asks, a wicked grin splitting her lips.

Ryan finished his meal and drink, very happy with his choice of meal and her choice of restaurant.

“Lead away,” Ryan says with a smirk as he gets up and takes her hand.
