We're here for the book
Just after their first meeting before anything can happen between Nightwing and Batman a problem crops up. There are a bunch of Jokerz right there and a creature that looks like it is made from the nightmares of Gotham herself. It stands back but gibbers something at the apparent leader of this group of Jokerz.

"Yeah, yeah I hear ya. Hold yer horses," he slicks back his hair and offers both heroes a grin. "My pal here has asked us ta get something from ya Bats. We want the diary of Randolph Carter. Hand it over or we'll take it from ya. Either way we win."

Twenty Jokerz, a Cthulu spawn, and two of Gotham's finest. This looks good.

	They get knocked away and it hisses at him. They seemed to have very little effect on the evil creature. It is pleased to have hurt him a little. But it keeps attacking not bothering with the magic it could use to have the hero curling in on himself in terror. It does not think that Nightwing can last against it. 	Despite being outclassed, Nightwing bore his teeth at the creature and continued to attack without stopping. He whirled, using both batons to strike the beast as close to between the eyes as he could manage. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Enter one pissed off Atlantean. Cait was NOT HAPPY with the incident in Atlantis and seeing another one of those THINGS just made her angrier. She grabbed some snow and formed a water tentacle. The edges sharpened and she lashed out at the creature. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"Whoa! We got another heo here," crows one Jokerz and he runs at Cait to attack her. Fire dances across Batman for a moment but the cold winter air helps take care of it. The beer didn't have a high enough alcohol content to burn for long. It was cheap after all. Five Jokerz swarm Batman with punches and kicks. They want to take him down fast and hard. The spawn sputters in rage as it is cut. It doesn't like the fact this interloper is here.

But it senses her anger. That is good. Yes 'hero' feed into more base emotions. Feed the Great One.

Dick had it stunned for a moment. Spots danced before it's eyes then it bellowed it rage. "F'TGAN!"

It charges at Dick wildly with arms and it's massive tail swinging about wildly.

	Nightwing held his ground to the beast, using his acrobatic ability to avoid strikes. He changed his vector of attack, trying a different angle, trying to keep the beast properly entertained. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Cait grabbed more snow and turned it into water. The tentacle continued to lash at the beast while she sent the new water toward the clown. Right before it reached him it turned to ice. The impact would be quite hard. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Just as Batman was finding himself outnumbered, Nightwing found himself free.

Of course, none of the Jokerz were paying attention to him and so he used that to his favor. Nightwing launched himself at the nearest Jokerz's back, doing his best to fell as many as possible before they start turning around.

He might not have worked with this Batman before, but Nightwing would be damned before any Batman fell while on his watch.

	The very pissed off Atlantean kept up the assault. She pulled more snow and water in around her and formed more tentacles. There were now about eight and she sort of looked liek an octopus. The tentacles sharpened and lashed out in all directions. Some toward the spawn and some toward the Jokerz. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Which really catches the rest of the Jokerz attention. Six turn to attack Nightwing. There is a chain used like a club sent towards his head. A few Jookerz get sent flying around. Others don't and smack at Batman with fists and feet, and even a glass bottle. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The glass bottle made contact with Batman's arm, luckily not cutting the suit, but enough to bruise his arm fairly badly. He was getting desperate. Batman grabbed a smoke bomb off his utility belt, aiming it at the ground, firing a line to shoot up over the crowd of Jokerz in the confusion. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Where Batman was becoming desperate, Nightwing dealt with the six Jokerz with deadly calm. The chain that was being swing at his head was intercepted by a juggling club, and Nightwing let the chain coil around his club, giving him enough leverage to try and jerk it out of it's wielder's hand. Several things worked in the trio's favor. The Jokerz were shocked by the death of the Cthulu spawn. Batman's smoke bomb had several Jokerz coughing and hacking.

Nightwing was kicking ass pretty well.

Then Cait takes down the ones who were about to try and dog pile Batman to help their friends out. In short oprder it went from sixteen who could still fight down to eleven. Then one tripped while trying to hold onto the chain and knocked himself out by going face first into a wall.

So then there were ten.

	Nightwing didn't stop with the goon and the chain. Twirling around to face more of the Jokerz, he just kept powering through as many as he could, trying to keep an eye out on Batman. Cait seemed to have herself under control and didn't appear to be in any danger. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
