Summary: Brian was cleaning again, so Alex had retreated to the Common Room for safety. Little did he know Emilie would be showing up.



Now Alex liked Brian. He did. The kid was nice, if odd, and didn't really get in his way. What more could he ask for in a roommate? Of course, that didn't mean he didn't get annoyed with him at times. Times like now when he went on a cleaning binge, and Alex couldn't even be in his own room because of the smell of cleaning supplies. Plus he always felt like Brian was going to start trying to clean him too, and that would have been... just no.

And that was why Alex found himself sitting in the Common Room, alternating between doing homework and reading magazines. It was a slow and quiet night, so Alex thought he might actually be able to get some work done without anyone bothering or seeing him do such.

Alex stood near the side of the building, roughly behind something he could easily hide behind if a faculty member walked by. He glanced around, making sure no adults were around, and then lit his cigarette, leaning against the wall. It had been a while since he'd had his nicotine fix and so he closed eyes and enjoyed it, hoping subconsciously that he wouldn't get caught.

Sam wasn't even sure he wanted to host a New Year's Eve party after his last night of the semester. It took some serious bro time and about ten pounds of candy corn, but he was finally cheered up enough to invite the upper academy to his house to celebrate the new year. He and Marina had spent setting up the house, making food, and convincing their parents that the house was not going to get wrecked while they were away.

A few charms and the house was glowing with silver snow flakes and 2011 balloons. The house was ready to go, parent free, and just waiting for the guests to arrive.

Summary: It's the Snowflake Ball!

The main hall of the Crescent City Institute had been completely transformed for the school's annual Snowflake Ball. Instead of a grand, but rather bland, hall, there was now an utterly festive atmosphere. A giant tree was the focal point now, decorated with real icicles and pine needles, and tiny fairies sitting politely on the ends of branches to provide a twinkling effect. Pillars were festooned with garlands and ribbon, tables set up with snowy white tablecloths, and the floor had been charmed to give off a low, misty effect. It was an effect that went well with the effect placed on the ceiling.

This was Louisiana, after all, and it wasn't often that they got heavy snow. But for tonight at least, there was snow at CCI. Or rather, in CCI. Snow fell prettily from the enchanted ceiling, warm and not wet at all. It evaporated before it hit the floor, but there was a charming quality to it as it fell among the Ball's attendees. In some spots, little floating lights, much like will-o-wisps floated amid the falling snow. Here and there, professors walked among the students giving greetings and compliments, and sometimes rebukes, all garbed in their holiday best. Some wore dress robes, others donned more Muggle attire. All in all, it was a beautiful occasion.

Summary: It's the Halloween Celebration!

It was Cabbage night and the students were out in full force. The Commons were decorated for the festivities including a black lit dance floor with a fog machine, bobbing for apples, and a haunted forest. Professor Neviah Socorro was dressed as a gypsy and doing tarot readings for the students.

There was a small bonfire being kept by the groundskeepers and refreshments being served nearby. Pumpkin juice, hot cider, pumpkin pie, candy apples, cookies with spider web designs, and other spooky foods were being served along with a plethora of chocolate frogs jumping around.
