"Dancing?" Professor Langley couldn't help but laugh as he chased after the still weaving creature. He tripped over his own rope, landing hard against the ground. He pushed himself back up quickly, trying to catch up with the creature.

The creature had lead them to the swamp. It flew higher, avoiding spells and took off over the deep muck, leaving it's trailers behind. Alexander half heartedly gave chase another few yards, but he could go no further once he reached the edge of the deep swamp. He watched defeated as the creature disappear into the night.

"Curses," he said resting his hands on his knees. "That thing is fast," he looked around the dark woods. It was eerily quiet now that they weren't crashing through the woods.

Gael eventually slowed to a stop just after the professor, when it was clear that the thing wasn't going to be caught. Not tonight anyway.

"Dammit," he muttered, breathing deeply. He sighed, he glanced over at Professor Langley, questioning. "Are we going to try and go after it?"

Sim skidded to a halt once he reached the edge of the swamp and groaned. He was caked in mud and tiny scratches covered any exposed skin.

"Are you crazy" he panted at Gael. "If you want to Artax yourself, be my guest but I'm not going in there!" He was of course, referring to The Neverending Story.

Alexander looked at his students and gave a half hearted sigh, he would let the swear slip for now because he felt the same frustration. "Sorry boys, no one is going after it tonight. We should head back to campus and let the Headmistress know that the woods are home to more than one strange creature," he nodded to Sim and Gael.

"Now, to remember the way we came..." he said looking at the skewed path behind them.

Gael ignored Sim completely, letting out a frustrated sigh at the professor's decision. He glanced back to where he had last seen the creature before turning back to the way they came.

"Well, if we keep walking in the direction we generally came from, we're bound to run into something familiar, right?" Though, to be honest, in the mad dash they'd made after the creature, he wasn't sure he remembered exactly where they had deviated from their original course either...
