Mackenzie reacted in the only way she knew how, growling angrily she slammed her hand into the drink machine, her finger’s curling into a fist. There were more tears running down her face now and she slammed her knuckles into the painted plastic, ignoring the pain in her hand upon contact. Physical pain was easier to handle than the sadness that she felt in her heart. She continued to beat at the humming box, screaming obscenities and even giving it a few kicks for good measure before collapsing against the wall that stood across from the vending machines. She cradled her hand, already seeing some bruising on her knuckles, sitting with her back pressed against the wall. Her knees were drawn up as close as they could get to her body, and she rested her forehead on them, taking a few deep breaths to calm herself down.
She had to pull it back together, they weren’t done here yet, as much as she wanted to be. She probably needed to apologize to her mother, even if she didn’t want to. She knew Kate probably wouldn’t apologize but when did she ever for what she did? After sitting against the wall for a while, Mackenzie pulled herself to her feet. She wiped her face, digging her sunglasses out of her pocket before heading back towards the hospital room to wait for Tatum and Kia to return.
