Kate allowed herself to be directed to the bed, folding into the tall blonde girl when she sat down next to her. She started sobbing once Hunter had wrapped her arm around her, wailing hysterically as Kia continued to delegate to the rest of the room. Her mother’s wailing brought Mackenzie out of her state of shock and she looked around frantically once she noticed that Tatum wasn’t attached to her anymore. She had felt the girl’s hand on her back briefly while Kia was talking to her but she hadn’t been paying attention. Finding the redhead not far away, she immediately grabbed the shorter girl’s hand, shooting a glare at Hunter before exiting out of the door.

Kia followed the two girls out of the door, a small smile on her face, she could tell that getting the two of them to separate for a little while wouldn’t be easy. She also knew her sister however, and knew that for Mack to really calm down and let go of her emotions, she needed to have a few moments by herself. Even if Tatum and her sister were really as close as the younger girl claimed, she still knew that old habits would die hard. She moved a few feet down the hall to give them a few moments of privacy, still close enough to remind them that she was there though, and what she had said was law.

Mackenzie pulled the redhead close to her once she was sure that the door to the hospital room was closed securely, wrapping her long arms around the girl and burying her face into the crook of her neck. She breathed in the usual sent of the redhead, although she couldn’t quite determine what today’s body spray was. It didn’t matter though, it was still familiar and comforting. “I’m sorry you had to see that,” she whispered quietly into the girl’s neck, her voice muffled. She had to bend over considerably to hug the girl the way she was but it didn’t matter to her, she couldn’t feel any safer than right where she was.

Clearing her throat lightly, Kia walked over to the two girls, gently squeezing Mackenzie’s shoulder again. “Alright kiddos, time to go for a bit,” She said gently, nodding when Mackenzie’s head shot up from where it rested. “Go on Mack, you need to go cool off. I’ll take good care of Tatum, I promise.” She gently detached her sister from the shorter girl and took the redhead’s hand in her own, tugging her away from the blonde.

Mackenzie just nodded and gave Tatum a reassuring wave before turning on her heel to go find a dark corner to sit in for a little bit. She wanted to burst right back into the hospital room and tear Hunter limb from limb but she knew that Kia would find out somehow and probably kill her after that.

Kia lead Tatum towards the service elevator, noticing that Mackenzie had shot them a look over her shoulder as she strolled off to do whatever she was going to do. She didn’t drop the girl’s hand, leading her gently down different corridors until they reached a little elevator tucked away down a side hallway. She pulled her onto the elevator once it arrived and dropped her hand once the doors had shut.

“So Tatum,” she said, giving the girl another smile. She could sense the girl’s anxiety and wanted to make her feel as comfortable as she could. “You and my sister are pretty cute together, you know? It’s nice to see Mackenzie care about someone again. You‘ve really tamed the beast, I‘m seriously impressed.” She leaned over a little and nudged the redhead playfully. “How’d you do it? I’ve never been able to figure that crazy girl out.”
