Did she really look that gay? Maybe Sera was right about all of the flannel. With her cheeks brightly blushing, the redhead adverted her eyes quickly, stammering her reply. "I-I uhm.. it's a-actually.. old E-English. I t-think, not h-hippy?" she managed, shocking even herself and immediately regretting it. Had she really just said that? She should have just kept her mouth shut and stayed out of it.

She winced when Mackenzie snapped, and she pulled the blonde girl's arm a little bit, hoping to hold her back or calm her down, anything. When Mack dropped her hand, she tried not to frown, just taking a couple of steps back, and doing exactly what she had wanted to do earlier. With Mack standing there and shaking, arms and fists at her side, Tatum stepped behind her; grabbing the back of her shirt in both hands and holding on, essentially hiding most of herself behind the older girl. With the extra nearly foot that the blonde had on her, it wasn't hard. It was comforting, she had hidden behind Mack so many times before, but it was also a bonus that she had a hold of her friend, should she decide to lunge at either Hunter or Kate. She didn't know which one the other girl would want to kill first.

Seeming to sense her time had come, Hunter moved forward and unfolded her arms, holding them up into the air as she approached both Mackenzie and her mother. "Ladies, ladies," she called out, raising her own voice to match Mack's. It would be lucky if no one came to see what all of the shouting was about. "Come on now, it ain't the time to be fightin' about stupid shit," the taller blonde insisted. When she was trying to impress Kate was about the only time Hunter ever thought with a level head. If it had been her own mother, she knew she'd be screaming right in her face, just like Mack was doing now.

She was pretty sure the shorter blonde was going to slug her, but at least it would distract Kate from picking on the freshie for a bit if she did. Plus she could maybe get some sweet lady kisses out of it from Kia or something. That would be good.
