It was sort of a heavy warning, but it had been what Tatum expected, and she nodded her head obediently. There had to be a reason that Mack had kept her away from her mother, after all of the time they had been friends. She had no problem letting her meet Kia, but their mother had always been an off-limits thing. Tatum didn't even really ask about it. She knew the blonde had her reasons, and clearly what her mother thought about her life-choices were at least part of those reasons. She wasn't particularly thick-skinned, and hoped Kate wouldn't say anything too harsh to her, not this week. But she would deal either way.

She could just find a bathroom or something if she needed to cry. It wouldn't be the first stall she had ever locked herself in. "I can do that," the redhead agreed slowly. She would hold Mack's hand and be there for her, because it was what any best friend would do. The fact that her palms were a bit sweaty, and her heart was hammering in her chest, was entirely her own fault. She had to get over herself. Everything would be fine, and then they'd go back to the car, and maybe just lay around in silence. But it would still somehow be contenting enough to keep them there, and keep them wanting to be there. Even when they didn't talk, Tatum felt better beside her.

Despite herself, she perked up a bit at the mention of Kia, smiling nervously. "Uhm, really? She is?" she asked. She hoped that the older blonde didn't know the whole story of the last couple of weeks, but she had a feeling that she just might. She could only hope she wasn't going to get a scolding or something, but Kia didn't seem the type. It was hopefully only something good, sounding happy was a good sign.

Tatum climbed out a few moments after Mack did, carefully balancing her drink and trying not to spill any of it. She had removed the lid to cool it off, but had barely drank very much of it at all. She just wasn't that thirsty, and warm drinks did nothing to provide any kind of comfort for what they were dealing with. It just wasn't enough. Making her way around to the back of the Rover to meet the older girl, she offered out her free hand immediately, waiting to Mackenzie to take it and lead her inside.
