Lily had kneeled down immediately to gather her books and at the sound of Emmeline's voice she looked up with a start, appearing flustered. "Thank you," she said, quickly taking one of the books Emmeline had picked up for her and smiling politely at her.
Reaching for her bag with one hand, Lily kept her books closely to her chest. It looked like she had managed to break one of the straps. Putting her back down again and reaching for her wand, Lily patted her back pocket only to come up empty. "Damn!" she cursed, realising she had probably packed her wand into her trunk.
Looking up at Emmeline, she stood up slowly. "You wouldn't happen to have your wand on you, would you?" she asked sheepishly. "A quick Reparo should do the trick, but it seems I forgot I'd need my wand today." It was always a bit of a change for her, having to go from her magic-less home back to Hogwarts.
