Daisy nodded in agreement and gave up on her struggle to see over the aisle, which had involved a series of small jumps and otherwise unsuccessful attempts to gain height by way of leaning on the counter. “They’re probably used to a bit of a disturbance every now and then,” she said, referring to the ladies at the front desk. “I can’t imagine what this place was like during their rush.”
“What?” Daisy asked, momentarily confused and reaching toward her lips with one hand. Touching them a bit sooner than she ordinarily would have, Daisy grinned, realizing what Amelia had been referring to. “It’s this lip gloss,” she said, bending down to retrieve a stray cylinder from the floor and showing its label to Amelia. Rolling her eyes, Daisy wiped her other hand across her lips- thankfully, the spell didn’t transfer to her hand.
