[info]blueridgefac:

Good evening students and staff!

Quodpot final scores are finally in! Friday the 18th Shenandoah took on Roanoke for third place. It was a merciless battle between the two teams and in the end Shenandoah took home the bronze trophy for the season. An excellent effort by both teams! Tonight, last years champions Appalachia finished off a perfect season when they thoroughly defeated Quirank! Congratulations to all this years quodpot teams and to Appalachia for a second championship in a row!

America, America, there are so many lovely things about this country. We will also have games like beach volleyball, horseshoes, and a bunch more set up all day! Please join us, we will begin our celebration at noon on Monday! There will also be a picnic style breakfast on the campus from 7-10:30 am!

Quodpot, Quidditch, Homecoming, & Gardening Club @ 07:02 pm

[info]blueridgefac:

Good evening students and Happy Columbus day!

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend despite the weather! All the sports games went off great!

Quirank faced off last year's cup champions, Appalachia on Friday night and though Quirank proved themselves a formidable opponent, they could not keep up with Appalachia. The Appalachia Wolves took home another well earned win at the end of the night. Sol Garcia commented "we're just steam rolling through the beginning of our season! It's only gonna get better!" There were high spirits in Appalachia all weekend and even an outdoor barbecue in front of their house on Friday night.

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the cheerleaders who came out and cheered their hearts out. Quirank and Appalachian cheerleaders alike showed up and kept the crowd spirited throughout the night.

The University Quidditch team met against The New York City University of Magic on Saturday afternoon and against the rain and poor weather still came out victorious. Team One and Team Two faced off after the University game and this time Team Two took home the victory after a trying game.

In other sports news, the University Quodpot team has suffered the loss of their center and noseguard Michiko Passos who has retired for the season. "I plan to come back next season, so don't you worry about a thing," Miss Passos was quoted after tendering her resignation. "I just have to think about my health right now and focus on getting through this year." Miss. Passos promised that she wouldn't miss a single practice or game while waiting out the season.

Homecoming is upon students! Make sure this week you send in your votes for homecoming court! All students are eligible! Homecoming week will be October 17-22 and the spirit week days are as follows!

Saturday: Homecoming dance and University Quidditch. The game is at two p.m. on the quidditch pitch and the dance will begin at 7 pm!

This week's highlighted club is the Garden Club. I had a chance to sit down with Tatum Donnelly, Ella Parry, and Sol Garcia to talk about the club's activities as of late. This week has been very heavily focused on moving outdoor plants into the greenhouse to avoid the killer frost. They've also planted several rare plants that they will be harvesting soon. Sol Garcia enthusiastically told me "Garden club is just super relaxed and a nice environment. It also provides tons of fresh herbs for cooking!" Tatum Donnelly was quoted saying "I mean like, it's been going really good. We're on schedule and stuff. Ella and Sunny do most of the hard.. stuff. But I found this really good spell for growing giant strawberries! They're like, huger than pears. It's super awesome." The Garden Club has an open door policy and would like to extend a welcome to any other interested students.

Next week we will be highlighting the Art Club! Don't forget to join us on the field Friday for Roanoke and Shenandoah and Saturday to see the University team with their new line up take on The New York City University of Magic! Thank you very much for your time!

Parents Weekend, Quodpot, Quidditch & Safety Measures @ 02:47 pm

[info]blueridgefac:

Good afternoon students!

It has been a week since the explosion at the end of parent's weekend and much to our satisfaction, we have discovered no other dangers or threats against the school. With the aurors and security on rounds, we can all rest assured that we are safe.

With that all settled, our qoudpot season kicked off this past Friday and I would like to extend the warmest thanks to those who came out to the game as last year's champions Appalachia took on Roanoke. Appalachia delivered a thorough win lead by their captain Sol Garcia. Miss Garcia remained firm that "Discipline and summer training is what helped us pull off a great start to the season. We're all really excited to be on the field again and we can't wait for our next game!" With the way the team played, we're all excited to see Appalachia hit the field again as well.

All three of the Quidditch teams played. Team One and Team Two, as always were quite evenly matched but Team One pulled off a last minute win when their seeker plucked the snitch out of the air. The University Team met on the home field against The California College of Magic and brought home a massive victory. Blind side beater, Mackenzie Dubinksy said "Well of course we won! Not that losin' is really possible for us anyway, but since when was the west coast any good at Quidditch? Freakin' wimps." This sort of confidence rang throughout the whole team, it's not wonder they took the win without a fight.

Please join us next Friday for Shenandoah v. Shawnee and again on Saturday as the University Quodpot team takes on their first game against The California College of Magic.

A brief reminder that homecoming is just three weeks away with elections being two weeks off. Get ready to make suggestions for the days that you want to see during spirit week!

Students will be reminded that your safety is the number one priority for the institute and as such, we will be adding LAW trained aurors to the staff to make sure we are all safe. All aurors will be wearing black uniforms and they will have their official ID badges visible at all times. Do not be alarmed as these aurors show up around campus and do your best not to distract them. In these trying times, the staff must ask that students remain vigilant and well behaved.

Remember, if you see or hear anything suspicious it is imminent that you tell a faculty member right away. This is our home and all of us have a responsibility to keep it safe.

Thank you very much for your time and efforts students!
