Setting: Their room in Quirank [501], Friday evening.
Content: SFW.
Summary: Jenny and Ella getting ready for the game versus Appalachia.

Jenny had been nervously awaiting their game on Friday night, and she had been occupying the mirror in their dormitory for nearly an hour. She normally didn't spend so much time getting ready, but it was their first game of the year and that felt surprisingly different now that she was captain. It made her much more on edge about the whole thing; when another senior had been running the games last year, that was no problem for her.

Now it was entirely her problem. It was her job to make sure they knew what they were doing, that they did well. Their practices had been going good, and she was confident that they would do fine, whether Quirank took the win or not. That part was up to them.

Squinting her eyes closed and keeping her lips shut in a tight line, she sprayed herself down with a quick spritz of hairspray and shook her head a bit. Peering over at Ella when she was done, and coughing a little, she smiled weakly. "Almost done," she assured her, slipping an elastic from her wrist and beginning to pull her hair into pigtails.

Ella was the opposite of Jenny when it came to stuff like cheering. If they won, they won but she wouldn't get herself in a worry over it. She lounged on her bed watching her sister put the finishing touches to her uniform and sighed. "That's what you said like, half an hour ago" she whined, but grinned back at her.

"I know, but I mean it this time!" Jenny quickly replied, though she had turned back to facing the mirror again, absently fussing with the ends of the pigtails she had just finished pulling up.

Deciding to strike up something to take the heat off of her, the blonde spoke without looking at her sister, though she cracked a little smile in the mirror. "Do you think Hen will come tonight? He seemed to like practice.. too bad he's not in our house, we could recruit him!"

Ella pulled herself off the bed and batted Jenny's hands away from her hair, messing around with it herself and twirling the ends. She always looked super cute with curls.

She side-eyed Jenny a little as she asked about Hendrix and shrugged. "He doesn't like quodpot, why would he come" she muttered.

Pouting playfully, Jenny dropped her hands and let her sister tend to her hair. It usually turned out cuter that way anyway.

When Ella gave her a look, the elder twin tried her best to look innocent, shrugging her shoulders. "I dunno, I mean.. he came to practice, he might just come to watch us. Sera doesn't like Quodpot either but she's still with us? Sometimes people do things they don't like just to see people they.. are friends with."

Ella laughed and shook her head. "I don't think Hen would put himself through a whole quodpot game just to see us! He wouldn't even be able to talk to us" she scoffed, smoothing out some of Jenny's hair.

"I guess," Jenny sighed slowly, tipping her head a bit to try to see herself in the mirror over Ella's shoulder. "Would you.. be happy if he did?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

"Don't move" Ella moaned, pushing Jenny's head back into its original position.

She wrinkled her nose slightly, why so many questions? "Totally! Wouldn't you? He's our best friend, after all. It's always nice to perform to someone who might actually be paying attention" she joked.

"Sorry!" Jenny apologized, straightening up and trying to stay more still. "Hey! People pay attention," she added, pouting all over again. "Some people.. but yeah, of course I'd be happy. I love spending time with him! That's why I invited him out for Halloween," the blonde went on, waiting for Ella's reaction. "He's going to be Fred, cool right?"

It was the first time she had really thought about it since suggesting it to him at the orchard, but now she guessed it had been about time to mention it. Two completely surprise dates would be too sneaky.

"You invite him everywhere!" Ella pointed out, though her grin gave away how she felt about it. "Totally cool! Maurey really likes him as well, have you noticed? That means he's a good person, Jen."

Bordering on being caught, Jenny tried to look scandalously surprised. "I do not! He's just.. our friend, I just think you guys are cute together. You're so giggly," she informed her sister, watching her grin.

"Maurey is the best judge of character, so that settles it. And he likes Maurey too, see? Sera's no fun, she really doesn't even like animals all that much."

"Sera doesn't like Maurey?" She looked over at the dog who was chilling out on her bed.

"I never said I didn't find cats funny! I just think the jokes would have more of an impact with improved spelling and grammar choices," Jenny replied quickly, pouting back at her, moving her head around again to get a better look of her own.

"She likes Maurey! And Tatum's cat, I think.. and her frogs, though they're kind of boring. She's just not a big animal person, and she hates when Maurey gives her kisses! I think he kisses her more cause he knows. She thinks it's gross when I share ice cream with him," the blonde explained, giggling a little. "She tells me to brush my teeth right after but it's not like he has cooties so I don't always do it right away."

"You're the worst" Ella moaned, grabbing a little hand mirror and helping Jenny see the back of her hair.

Spluttering, she couldn't quite understand why anyone wouldn't want to share ice cream with her pup. "But he loves ice cream! He's gotta have a lick. And I brush his teeth every day, he's totally fresh" she defended Maurey. "Do you think Hen would share his ice cream with him?"

"Just how I was born," Jenny replied happily, peering into the little mirror and smiling. "Looks good! Thanks for helping out your weirdo sister," she joked.

She nodded her head quickly in agreement with Ella. "Right? That's what I said, but says it's only okay if you're like.. done with it. Like, if you save him some. But it takes forever to get to the end and he just stares at you with those sad eyes the whole time!"

Scrunching up her face for a moment, Jenny hesitated for only a second before nodding her head. "I think so! He's not nearly as neurotic."

"He doesn't like the cone! He's just like me" Ella giggled. "There's nothing worse than a soggy ice cream cone, huh baby?" she called to Maurey who wagged his tail. "I heard dogs mouths are totally cleaner than human mouths anyway. Maybe I should tell Sera that?"

Ella grabbed her socks and sneakers and began pulling them on, fumbling with the laces as she thought about Hendrix again. "That's true. He makes good chicken nuggets too, you know. And I'm pretty glad he's coming with us on Halloween. I wont be the third wheel" she joked sticking her tongue out at her sister.

"Nobody likes the cone, right Maurey?" Jenny agreed. She usually tossed an ice cream out as soon as it got soppy enough to leak at the bottom, there was nothing grosser than sticky habds on a hot day. "You should tell her that, though I don't know if she'll believe you.. she doesn't even think cats should be allowed sleep on the kitchen counter at her house! She's like, the pet nazi."

Moving over to her own bed, Jenny pulled her socks up higher before putting on her own sneakers, glancing up at Ella as she teased her. "You're so never the third wheel, shut up! Though it is kind of nice to have Hen along too," she mused. "More double dates," she half-joked, mostly to see her sister react.

"You shut up" Ella retorted, throwing a cushion at Jenny's head. "Watching you are Sera make out is totally third wheel territory" she giggled, which turned into a cough. "Double dating? With Hen?"

The thought gave her a warm, fuzzy feeling like the time they had curled up on the very bed she was now sat on and she sighed. "Don't think like that, Jen. Me and Hen are just friends. You know, best friends, all three of us and everything. He doesn't see anyone in that other way."

"I don't shut up, I grow up, and when I look at you, I throw up!" Jenny replied almost automatically, her tongue sticking out for a moment before the pillow bopped her upside the head. "Duh with Hen, who else?"

She had turned away to look at herself in the mirror again, now that she was fully ready. She plucked absently at just one pigtail. They did look better curly. "And for your information, we don't even really do that anymore! It was like, a phase," she defended herself, turning now to face Ella as her sister continued speaking.

Frowning a little, Jenny crossed the room and climbed up onto Ella's bed, beside her and Maurey. She couldn't just let loose the little prodding progress she had made with Hendrix at the orchard, she had said she wouldn't tell anybody. But it was hard not to tell, especially Ella whom she told everything to. "Hey, you don't know that! Like mom always says, don't count your chickens before they hatch! And speaking of her, she loves Hen, too!"

It would be much easier going with their mother if Ella had a boyfriend like Hen. She didn't think Paula could handle another Charlie.

"Well if you throw up when you look at me why don't you throw up when you look in the mirror" Ella said triumphantly before pulling a face at the back of Jenny's head once she turned away. "A phase! You suck face with everyone! You totally did it all the time with Charlie. Barf!"

Ella sighed and relaxed into her pillows as Jenny sat with her. If this is what liking a boy was like, it sure was a lot of effort. Not that she liked Hendrix or anything. "What are you getting at, that I should just force Hendrix to be my boyfriend or something" she joked, laughing a little hysterically.

"I do not with everyone!" Jenny quickly protested, reaching over to gently grab her sister's side. "Charlie was like, the best kisser I ever met. That was different," she admitted, flushing just a little despite her mischievous smile.

"No one said force," the other blonde added, smile turning upside down and into a pout. "I was just saying, if you.. liked somebody, he'd be a nice someone. That's all. And he thinks you're cute," she informed her, covering her mouth as she said the last part. "But I didn't tell you that!"

"I'm gonna puke" Ella moaned, clutching her stomach. Most boys were gross, but Charlie had been the worst. Jenny had picked the most dirty boy in the whole school to make out with. It still made her shudder.

Ella narrowed her eyes at her sister and folded her arms. "Have you been talking about me?" Her mouth pulled down into a frown. "Everyone thinks I'm cute" she pointed out.

"You're so overdramatic," Jenny groaned back, rolling her eyes. "You never even kissed him so you can't judge! It was like.. magic and nicotine."

Realizing she was at least partially caught in the act, the other blonde did her best to play it cool. "Not like that! You make it sound like, bad. It wasn't like that," she quickly assured her. When Ella called herself cute, Jenny stuck her tongue out at her. "Obviously I'm cuter, but anyway.."

Jenny rolled her eyes right back, scrunching up her face at her sister as she covered her ears. "Fine, you win! But I'm still legitimately right," she informed her.

Hearing Ella suggest that Hendrix liked her instead, she snorted. Did her sister seriously not notice how goofy the two of them got around each other lately? There was no way he had eyes for anyone but Ella. "I guess you're right, but it's not impossible! He's a growing boy. When you grow up, sometimes you start to look at your friends.. you know, differently."
