Ace had fallen asleep on his ratty couch a couple of hours ago despite his best efforts to stay awake. The apartment smelt more like crappy coffee than usual and he had crashed in his work clothes, springing up rather crumpled when he heard the door knock. He pointed his wand at it until Ellie appeared and his face softened. He still felt tense though, she hardly ever visited him here.

He tossed his wand onto the coffee table and rushed to greet her. "Hi" he said softly, stroking her cheek and trailing his fingers through her hair before locking the door behind her. It should have been locked anyway. He was so caught up at work, he was forgetting important stuff like that.

Ellie had not been fazed by having the wand pointed at her, she knew he had enough control to know who he was cursing. She smiled warmly and reached up to kiss him on the cheek. Hi, she signed. You look like you need some mothering. She couldn't hide her grin.

You need a break as well, she eyed the door as if to say he should be more careful before thrusting the loaf of bread into his chest and taking one of his hands with hers.

"Aw, come on. I don't look that bad" he said grinning, though the dark circles under his eyes said differently. He took the bread and kissed the top of her hair. Ace led her into the tiny kitchen and tossed out the moldy bread for Ellie's much nicer looking loaf, and flicked the coffee maker on.

"Is everything okay? Is Teo actually stalking you now or what?"

She smiled and snuggled into his chest, letting herself smile for once. Please tell me you haven't been eating that.

Ellie watched him carefully as he made his way through the kitchen, fiddling with her locket. No. Nothing was okay, but she couldn't tell him that. He was practically at war with her sister and she didn't want to loose either one of them.

She sighed and shook her head. Teo is fine. We had to break up a fight the other day together. Tragic teenage love story. She smirked though. I just wanted to see you. You've been busy, hard to catch up with you on campus anymore.
