Ella had been resigned to a night in, not that that was unusual on a school night. Then the weird texts had come, half garbled and hard to decipher. After a few exchanges she had deduced it was some party Hunter was throwing, and without much thought Ella was already getting dressed. It was silly, but truthfully Hunter was pretty much the coolest girl Ella knew, except her sister of course, and she jumped at the chance to hang out with the older girls. Still, it was best not to tell Jenny where she was going as she called out a quick bye and scurried away off campus.
It was surprisingly easy to sneak out of school, and Ella apparated to where she thought Hunter meant to say she was, which was a club. Ella hesitated before joining the queue. What did she have to lose? She was already breaking curfew. She had her wand ready to confund the guy on the door, if it came down to it, but she was waived right in behind a group of older ladies. Hardly believing her luck, she scanned the club excitedly, high off of the success. Spotting Hunter, she ran over to the older girl breathlessly. "Oh hi, I got your texts, are you really out on a school night? Did ya really want me to come meet you guys? Jenny's gonna be so mad" she rambled, staring around wide-eyed.
Hunter had already long since lost Mack to Sera somewhere in the crowd, and Kia had gone to pee and still hadn't come back. It felt like she had been gone for hours, and Hunter ordered herself half a dozen more shots while she waited, lining them up and downing them. It was one of her last chances to have fun before Monkey would be born, and she intended to enjoy herself. She proceeded to text several people in her phone, trying to explain how bored she was and what losers her friends were, but mostly not making herself clear.
It was a miracle that Ella deciphered enough to show up, and Hunter was already grinning as she made her way through the crowd. "Ya came!" She cried happily, pulling the much shorter blonde into a tight hug, and sort of petting her hair. "I knew.. I knew someone would save me!" Scrunching up her face at Ella's questions, Hunter shook her head. "Seriously! Fuck school! Don't tell yer sister I said that either.. we'll just not tell her nothin' bout nothin' round here! She never.. never let's you an' Sera have fun! All work an' no play! Fuck that, girl, you want a drink?" She asked, already enthusiastically flagging the bartender and ordering up something strong.
Ella squeaked as she was almost squeezed to death, patting Hunter's back. "What'chu need savin' from? Your texts were kinda hard to make sense of!"
She looked at the bar, and the piles of booze, biting her lip. "Jen's just got a different sense of what's fun" she defended her sister, though she felt like she said it so much that everyone had already heard it before. She always had fun with her sister. Still, she wasn't Jen, and she didn't want to be a stick in the mud. "Um, you choose!" she shrugged, grinning.
"From boredom, of course!" Hunter cried, flapping her arms a bit to emphasize her point as the bartender began making their drinks. Once they were ready, she slid one down to Ella, making sure to make she had elbowed their way close to the bar, as she leaned on it and slurped her drink through a little straw.
"It's good, drink up, drink up! Y'all got a long night ahead of you, girl! We're goin' all fuckin' night, no shit! Till the sun comes up!" she informed the younger girl, grinning manically at her own genius. "We're even goin' to get pancakes.. I dunno bout you, but I'm gettin' some blueberries an' shit all up in mine!" |
