Sim smiled into Meka's hair as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. "That's my girl" he muttered, his breathing slowing back to normal.
Just being in his arms made her feel better, safer, like nothing could touch her. She smiled against him, laughing weakly. "Damn right." She hugged him for a while longer before reaching up and kissing his cheek. "Let me fix this up," she nodded.
"Accio wand," she paused and looked at Sim with big eyes. "Why couldn't I think of that five minutes ago?" Her wand flicked through the house and right into her hand. It was one of the first things she had learned to do in wandless.
Sim knew as well as anyone that wizard or not, the last thing he resorted to in a sticky situation was his wand. For some people it was like a whole limb attached to them, but maybe he and Meka had that in common.
"It don't matter. You're okay, that's what's important" he sighed with big eyes. Opening the kitchen door he yelled at some kids he knew and pointed at Kekoa. "Get him out of here. Just leave him in the street, someone'll help him eventually" he muttered, patting one of the kids on the back before holding his hand out to Meka.
She nodded at him weakly and smiled. Meka watched as the kids dragged Kekoa out of the kitchen and quietly hoped that he would be fine. She knew he deserved it but really it still bothered her that someone had gotten hurt.
She took his hand gently and began waving her wand over it, whispering vulnera sanentur over it. She watched the skin patch together slowly, turning from red to pink. "Did he get you anywhere else?" she asked without being able to look him in the eyes. Meka was still holding his hand in hers, almost unwilling to let go. She was ashamed that she had let it get this far, that this was the second time she had to patch him up because of Kekoa.
Sim watched his skin mend and the blood stop flowing. When it was healed he flexed and bent his fingers. It ached but it would heal. It always did.
He hadn't even registered that he could have gotten hurt anywhere else. "Are you kiddin'? That's the second time I've kicked his ass and he hasn't touched me" he half bragged, half joked before draping his arm around Meka's shoulders and pulling her under his chin.
She tried to laugh but all that came out was a sad little gasp and she let him pull her into him. "I love you," she cried gently into his chest, wrapping her arms around him tightly.
"I'm sorry Sim. I never wanted this to happen again," she finally laughed. "I'm a god damn mess."
"Well I fuckin' love you too, don't I?" he laughed, hugging her tightly.
"It wont happen again. He's not coming back, all you have to deal with now is my asshole friends" he joked, stroking her hair.
She laughed; relieved, happy, and ridiculous all at the same time. "I can deal with your asshole friends so long as you can deal with my nerdy friends," she joked.
"Come on, let's get trash canned," she laughed. "Fuck being a hostess for the night, we deserve it. Just... make sure we get to bed tonight. I don't want to wake up in the kiddie pool this time," she reached up and kissed his lips. |
