Jenny exhaled shakily, lifting her eyes a bit to look the younger girl in the eyes. She knew she was telling the truth really, without even looking, but it didn't make hearing it any easier. It was what she had wanted to hear all along, but at the same time, it kept coming back to the fact that she couldn't forgive so easily. Sera saw that she was wrong and she wanted to change, but it didn't take away the last two months, everything that had gone on since then. "I never stopped loving you either.. do you really think I would? Or that I could? I just- when I'm with you.. even though I want to be mad, right now. I can't even."
She sighed weakly, furrowing her brow a bit as she saw Sera staring at her hair again. She reached up unconsciously, trying to flatten it down a little bit. "She.. well, d-did you think I wouldn't be with anyone else? You were, weren't you? You can't-- she's welcome to say my name," she murmured back. Looking over more closely at Sera, Jenny chewed gently on her lip again and flopped back onto Meka's bed once more, groaning. "I can't.. I can't cut you out. Of course I want to be your friend, I want to be-- I want everything to just be normal. Like it used to be. I want to be with you, I just.. I don't know yet. It's a lot, okay? I want to trust you, Ser, I do.. I just can't get hurt again, I can't do it."
Curiosity and jealousy had gotten the better of Max. He wanted to know what that little blonde bitch wanted with Sera. Hadn't the other girl made it clear enough that they were done, that being the way they were was not the natural way of things?! He had been standing outside the door almost the entire time and what he heard had him clenching his fists together tightly. The worst past was he couldn't hit either one of them because they were both girls. Finally he couldn't stand it anymore and just pushed open the door and leaned in, looking exasperated.
"And what do we have here?" he asked looking them both over, surprised to see them on opposite sides of the room. "Seraphim, I thought you were done with that part of your life," he looked at her seriously. "You were right the first time. You weren't meant to be together, it just wasn't right. And now..." he looked at Jenny, sizing her up and trying to remember her name. "As your delightful friend has pointed out she's seeing someone else and things will never be the same between you." "I'll help you un-complicate the situation. You'd barely been split a week and you had both already started seeing other people. Sera I understand that you wanted, no... needed to be shown the proper direction but you," he looked back and Jenny and flashed her a big, menacing grin. "You were just being a dyke-y slut."
"I never wanted to be with anyone else, I was just drunk and upset I guess.. the first time. I didn't even want to go to that stupid New Years party, I tried to stay upstairs. I did.. but then I dunno, Hunt made me come downstairs and I saw you with Charlie.. and Max was just there. And I knew he liked me for a while so.. I was just pissed off Jen, honestly none of it should have happened. It never should have went past that night. Alex was telling me a bunch of stuff about you and Charlie though, and I guess I just didn't know what to think anymore. I'm sorry I slept with Max, I really wish I hadn't. It was never anything like it was with you," She paused for a moment, taking a step closer but still keeping her distance. She reached up to push her hair off of her own face a bit.
"I know she can, I know you can do whatever you want.. don't even worry about your hair Jen, it's okay, really." She finally added, shrugging her shoulders a bit as the blond tried unsubtly to fix it. Sera wanted to be angry, but she knew she really didn't have any right to be angry. Regardless of the reason, she had slept with Max and Charlie too, for that matter. Which was a whole other issue in itself that they would still need to work through. "It was just hard to hear her say it, that's all. Everything was already fucked up enough, ya know? I know I have no right whatsoever to be mad, but that doesn't make it any easier.. not to be." She took another small step forward towards the blond, stopping when Jenny flopped back down onto Meka's bed again. The blond seemed like she might be pissed, but when she spoke it wasn't near as bad as Sera had been expecting. She just listened, waiting for the blond to finish before she spoke again. She didn't blame Jenny for not trusting her, nor did she really expect everything to just return to how it was in just one night. She just wanted a chance. Sera was just about to respond when she heard Max's voice behind her. "Not now," She mumbled, not meaning for it to come out as loud as it did. What the hell was he doing here? She did have to talk to him, but it didn't have to happen right now. Not that she hadn't wanted things to end for a while but she was more than kind of in the middle of something at the moment. "What do you want?" She replied, ignoring Max's line of questioning all together, crossing her arms as she faced him head on. "This is between Jenny and I.. and it has nothing to do with you. For one, you have no idea what you're even talking about.. just get out." Standing her ground, she looked at him seriously. When he insulted Jenny, it was even more of a struggle to contain herself. She wanted to blow up at him, but now wasn't the time. She really just wanted him to go away. "Don't you dare talk to her like that. We'll talk later, just go!"
Max appearing in the room was actually one of the last things that Jenny had been expecting. She turned on her side slightly as he came in, regarding him with an irritated look at he began to speak. Every word that came out of his mouth only served to make her angrier, particularly his quip about the proper way as he called it, and she was soon enough standing up quickly from the bed. She wished that she had brought her wand with her, but it was probably best that she hadn't. She couldn't promise she wouldn't hex him into next week if he didn't just stop talking.
It barely even phased her when he called her a slut, and she rolled her eyes at him, the blonde's arms crossing over her chest firmly. She wasn't very big, but she tried her best to look both annoyed and authoritative. She was smaller, but she was older and the Head Girl. It was her job to police the dormitories, after all. "Get lost. Like now, you homophobic little shit, before I get you expelled for harassing her. You can't just barge into a girl's room without asking, especially when she clearly doesn't want you in here," Jenny sneered back. "You should really think ahead about how you talk to the Head Girl, by the way. Dyke? Yeah, not only are you only half right, but that's a slur.. and if you didn't know, we do have a zero tolerance for bullying in this school." Still trying to look her toughest, she stood at Sera's side, glaring at Max as he stood by the door. His stupid grin was just begging to be slapped off his face, but she merely shook with the effort of holding herself back instead. "This is none of your business, and it's rude to eavesdrop on other people's conversations, didn't your mother teach you any manners? She isn't your girlfriend, and probably because you're such a disgusting chauvinistic pig. I don't even know how you get girls to like you in the first place, you're a condescending little twerp!"
"So chivalry isn't dead yet is it Ser?" he mocked her as she stood up for Jenny. He could deal with her later. For now his focus was driving the little blonde bitch out of the room whether she leave in a rage or in tears... he didn't really give a damn. "I reserve my respect for people who deserve it. I can see why you would have gotten steered in the wrong path with this one though," he said, almost sympathetically. "She's so pathetic it's hard not to try and help her out."
"Oh," he laughed, putting his hands in the air when Jenny shot back at him. "I didn't know you could talk that much," he said to Jenny, an irritatingly mocking smile spread across his lips as he watched the two girls. "But let's not go using words that are too big for us," he said patting her head. "You know, I never understood how you were elected Head Girl. I've always wondered you who slept with to get the position. Hadn't your mother ever taught you integrity?" he smiled then. "I suppose it's hard to teach any sort of proper lesson when your a slut too." |
