February 5th, 2012Comments
When Jenny began to wake up, she noticed two things were wrong. She was, for one, far too close to the ceiling of her dormitory. Just a few inches, more than enough to smash her head if she sat up all of the way, and good that she had noticed. She was in Ella's bunk. Secondly, it was absolutely freezing in the room and she was vaguely uncomfortable. She soon realized that there were several factors contributing to this. Her bedroom window was cracked open to the February air, she had absolutely no blankets, and there were Scrabble and chess pieces scattered on her pillow, some stuck to her cheek.
Plus there was the fact that she was only wearing the lingerie she had so cleverly put on for Charlie the evening before. Well, at least the evening had probably gone well. She hadn't given in and gone running to Sera, there was that. But where was Charlie? And for that matter, where was Ella? Obviously not in her own bed at half past seven in the morning. Noticing for the first time, Jenny felt someone behind her, seemingly sleeping with their bare back against her's. She made a little face, turning over and expecting to see a familiar mop of blonde hair, but finding the back of Hendrix's head instead. Her eyes going wide, Jenny couldn't help but let out a little squeak. "Hendrix! What are-- where's Ella!?" she squealed.
Hendrix had just been waking up when he heard a familiar voice squeaking at him. "El... s'prolly jus' a spider," he muttered, thinking his girlfriend was probably trying to wake him up to take care of some menace but wait... that wasn't right. That wasn't Ella's voice.
He opened his eyes and saw Jenny laying in bed next to him... in her lingerie!!! "Ahhh!" he rolled right out of the bunk, long limbs flailing and hit the floor hard. "Oh fuck!" he said laying on the ground. He looked down and realized he was only wearing his underpants. "Wh-wh-what happened last night? Where is Ella?" he scrambled to cover himself and looked up at Jenny, still red faced and sitting on the floor.
Jenny let out another little shriek as Hendrix went tumbling out of bed and thumped hard onto the floor. She scooted over quickly, peering meekly over the side at him and then immediately closing her eyes tightly as he tried to cover himself up. "I don't know! She should be here! With you, not with.. w-we didn't, I mean we.. we wouldn't so we definitely wouldn't!" she rambled.
Cupping her hands over her face, she shook her head. "I was with Charlie and you were with Ella so like, where did they go?" she murmured, as she tried to wrack her brain, it suddenly started coming back nearly at once. Strip chess, that was right, oh god. But it still didn't explain where Ella went after she had dragged Hendrix away.
"We couldn't..." he shook his head. Hazy memories of Jenny in her lingerie and playing chess crept into his mind. "We... played chess and scrabble right?" he ran a hand through his messed up hair. He might have kissed her a few times but he couldn't really remember that much from the night before.
"Oh god... she's never going to forgive me," he squeezed his head. What had he been thinking? Anyone else would have been all about twins but he was just starting to feel sick. What if he had messed it up beyond repair? "What even happened last night?" he asked, not daring to look up at Jenny. He looked around and found his pants near a chess board in disarray. Reaching over he pulled them on quick.
"W-We did. We just played games, right? Of course we did," Jenny agreed quickly, more trying to convince herself than anything as she kept her hands over her face. Had they kissed? Yes, they had definitely kissed. But luckily, she was pretty sure that was it, other than him seeing a bit more skin than he should have ever seen on her. He was like a brother, and this was beyond majorly weird.
"We.. We'll just explain to her. Maybe she's with somebody right now," she managed to get out, before quickly regretting it. Perhaps that wasn't the best image to put in his head right then, Ella in somebody else's bed. Who though? It could be anybody, and that made Jenny immediately worried too. "I don't know, we were.. I was looking for Charlie, and then I went to get a drink and I found you and we.. it was weird. It was like I was drunk, I don't know. My head feels like I was, but I really don't.. think we were," she tried to explain, trailing off. "But I really have no idea," she admitted, slightly deflated.
Reaching around he found a t-shirt and tossed it up to her. "Here," he said quietly, trying to remember everything. "Yeah, we did. Though... it was strip versions," he admitted wincing just a little. This was just awful. Jenny was like his sister and she was his girlfriend's twin. This was just... not the way he had planned on waking up after the Valentine's dance.
"Oh god," he groaned. He didn't even want to think about Ella with anyone else. "I really hope no one took advantage of my Ella," he hide his face in his hands and he knew then he could have been just as guilty. "Oh stars I'm so sorry Jenny," he said looking up at her desperately. "I remember... I remember I thought you were wasted and I tried to sober you up with that punch... then I was drunk too..." his head was spinning a little, like he was hung over to the tenth degree. "I'm so sorry," he repeated himself.
"Yeah," Jenny replied slowly, catching the shirt and quickly pulling it over herself, pulling her knees up to her chest and pulling the tee over them so she was sort of cocooned inside. It was better than nothing. "I remember.. that stipulation of the rules. You didn't-- I mean, my.."
She trailed off, unsure of what to say. She had been about to try to comfort him and suggest that maybe it wasn't so bad since, it was just her, and beside the tattoo on Ella's buttcheek, it was all the same thing. But it really wasn't, and she grossed herself out by even comparing. It was so different. "No, don't be sorry! I- It really wasn't anyone's fault. I don't think. It was.. just an accident," she murmured, peering over at him with a little pout. It felt like the hundredth accident to happen this year, and she was once again reminded that she had picked a hell of a year to become Head Girl. "We'll figure everything out, and-- there's no way, right? Ella wouldn't.. not with somebody else. There's no way," she offered, though she was mostly just hopeful. If that potion had been strong enough to sway her and Hen into half-naked snuggles together in Ella's bed, then there was really no telling what the rest of the school was waking up to. She vaguely wondered where Sera was, and Charlie for that matter, and stopped before she made herself jealous on top of traumatized.
He groaned and plunked down on Jenny's bed, covering his face with his hands. The night was slowly coming back to him now. He had been acting like an idiot and yes... playing strip chess but he hadn't been terribly uncouth. Still... the thought of the night before maybe him shiver. "Damn it," he muttered through his hands, staring up at the bottom of the bunk.
Hendrix felt sick. He couldn't think of Ella because every time he did he just thought of some other person wooing her away. She did deserve the best, maybe there was someone more suited for her. He just rolled over, curling into as small a ball as possible. "Right," he said feeling just as hopeless as ever. He had no idea what he could do to make it better but even worse... what if she didn't want to fix it? What if she was just done with him? "We'll figure it out," he said quietly.
Hendrix's lull into silence allowed Jenny to do the same, half mimicking him as she turned on her own side and pulled the pillow closer against her face. With nothing to really do but think, it was harder to keep her mind away from Charlie and Sera. Either one of them could be with anybody.. not that she was supposed to care who Sera ended up with. No one could really be much worse than that buffoon Max anyway..
Sighing heavily, Jenny flipped over on her other side. "Seriously, Hen.. we will, we really will. Everything, there has to be some logical explanation. There's always a logical explanation," she informed him, trying hard to believe in her words. There was something in that punch, and it had been strong. But they were out of it now, and she really hoped that everyone else was too. If everyone came to their senses, they could just sort everything out and it would be all good, right? Especially if Ella and Charlie were with other people too.. they had to understand.
He nodded but realized she couldn't very well see him nodding from underneath the bunk. "Right," he said, a bit stiffly. "We'll be fine." He forced himself out of the bed and grabbed his shirt from the floor. "I should go try to find El," he said running a hand through his hair. Pulling his shirt on he looked at Jenny, a bit sadly. "Promise we won't be weird?" he asked.
