"Why would someone do that?" Faith puzzled. Spiking the punch only asked for trouble. "Fuck all this shit" she said angrily. "First I get turned into a fucking guy and now I got roofied? How is this school still open" she grumbled. Still, she felt a little better. Everyone else must be in the same boat. Perhaps even worse things had happened!
Faith considered asking him to drop her off outside campus so they didn't get spotted together, but swallowed the question and smiled. "Yeah great, thanks." She finally moved away from the window and relaxed a little.
"Fuckin' jerks," he said flipping the first batch of pancakes. He liked multi-tasking in the kitchen. It made it easier to focus on the food and less on the girl in his kitchen. He had never felt so awkward about anything in his life. He smiled at the thought of the gender switch day though. "Hey, I made a pretty cute girl," he snorted goofily but went right back to staring at the cooking food.
"Yeah, no problem," he couldn't really look her in the face. He had to keep looking past her. He felt even worse now knowing she was younger. "Look, I aint no creep or anything. I'm a second year magical crafting student. I wouldn't ever take advantage 'a someone, ever."
"I looked like my dad. For a whole day. That is the most traumatising thing that has happened to me" Faith joked. It was the second most traumatising now.
Faith breathed a little sigh of relief and wrapped her arms around herself. "Don't worry about it. I'm just glad you're not some jerk off old man" she said to make him feel better. She felt sorry for him, truthfully.
He smiled warmly and finished making the paninis, two regular sized and one tiny one all cut up into even smaller pieces. He flipped over the last of the pancakes. "Yeah, probably not the best of pranks," he shook his head. "I'm startin' to think we might have a poltergeist."
He nodded, he hadn't met for this to happen. He smirked a little bit. "Yeah, that woulda been a nightmare," honestly, it could have been waaaaay worse. At least she was a she. "I'm gonna grab Eddie real quick," he turned off the burner and slid some pancakes onto each plate, cutting up the pancake on the smaller plate into little bits again. He set them on the small kitchen table and disappeared for a few minutes. He returned to the kitchen with Eddie, barely awake and resting her head on his shoulder. He set her in her booster seat and handed her the plate of her food. "Does anyone want juice?" he asked.
Faith tried not to look too panicked at the prospect of having breakfast with a baby, but at least it seemed to be asleep. Or at least tired. "I usually feel like that in the mornings too" she joked, nodding for juice.
Leland grinned and turned to bring over some glasses and orange juice. Eddie finally looked up, locking eyes with the blue haired girl across the table from her. "Pretty!" she said loudly, as if she was finally awake. "Daddy! Blue!" she pointed at Faith.
"Yeah I know," he grinned returning with the juice. He poured two glasses and put some in her sippy cup. "No reachin' though, don't wanna get syrup in Faith's pretty hair right?" he joked. Eddie smiled shyly and started eating her breakfast, occasionally sneaking peeks at the girl across the table and then giggling. Reaching over to wipe her mouth with a napkin, he accidentally knocked Eddie's sippy cup. It didn't spill but still... "Aw damn it daddy!" Eddie hollered pointing at the cup. Leland blushed and put the cup back up. "Watch yer mouth when we have company Eddie."
Faith gave Eddie the best smile she could muster and shoved pancakes in her mouth quickly. She looked across at the little girl as much as the little girl looked at her, sometimes meeting her eyes.
She almost choked when the little girl cussed and couldn't help laughing. "I think pancake just came outta my nose" she laughed, wiping her eyes on the sleeve of the hoodie.
Leland felt relieved that she had laughed and could't help himself. He laughed too and patted Eddie's hair. Eddie giggled along as well, glad to have made the pretty lady smile.
"Pancakes out the nose huh? Pretty impressive feat," he grinned. "I s'pose the only person you can blame fer that mouth is me," he admitted. "So what house you in?" he asked pushing the food around on his plate awkwardly. He felt like he should at least get to know her a little bit all things considering.
Faith poked her tongue out at Eddie before taking a big swig of juice. "Well she's the coolest baby I know" she said.
She shrugged at his question and fiddled with her fork. Somehow hwat he asked made her feel kind of like a baby. "Roanoke. Whatever, it's lame" she laughed. "Did you go to school here?"
Eddie giggled and made a face at Faith, putting her own syrupy hands up near her ears and crossing her eyes.
"Yeah, she's pretty awesome," Leland was practically beaming at the little girl. She really was his pride and joy, the only real family he had left. He turned his attention back to Faith, grinning like a fool. "Oh yeah, I transferred in my sophomore year. I was a Shawnee." Eddie smacked Leland with her moose. "Moosey pancake!" she demanded. He laughed and and cut up some of his own pancake and put it onto her plate. "There. Is Moosey happy." "Mmm-hmm," she nodded already shoveling the newly liberated pancake into her own mouth after pretending to feed it to the moose. |
