When Mackenzie came into her view, there was absolutely nothing else that Hunter could see. She was positively elated, practically falling over in her hurry to rush forward and meet the shorter blonde as she sauntered over. "Girl," she managed to get out, feeling all sorts of totally forbidden and unexpected feelings swelling up inside of her as she stared at her best friend's face.
"What took ya so long!?" she demanded, before grabbing Mack and pulling her in, seizing her in a firm kiss.
Mackenzie barely had time to react to her friends strange behavior before she was being pulled into a kiss. She stood ridged with shock for several moments while her brain tried to catch up with the current events. Hunter Sommer was kissing her. Mackenzie could almost feel the bile rising in her throat. This had to be some kind of bizarre dream, there was no way that this would happen in real life.
Finally, Mack's senses kicked in again and she shoved the taller girl off of her. "What the fuck you sicko!" She spluttered, wiping violently at her mouth. She clenched her fist and landed a knuckle sandwich into Hunter's face. "Dude, that wasn't fucking funny! What the hell is wrong with you?"
"What's wrong with me?!" Hunter replied, just barely having time to straight back up from the punch that stumbled her backwards. She looked at the other girl desperately, unable to believe what she was hearing her say. "Don't you feel it?" she asked, as if Mack were stupid.
Stepping forward again, with zero regard for personal space despite the injury she had just received, she grabbed Mack's hand and held it up, against her chest. "Don't ya feel that? Girl, c'mon.. I knew. I always knew, yer like-- yer so damn perfect for me! An' you been right in front of me all along!"
"No! I don't fucking feel it," Mackenzie insisted. She ran an exasperated hand through her hair and stared at Hunter in disbelief. What the hell was going on here? "Are you drunk?" She demanded as Hunter came into her personal bubble again and grabbed her hand. "Knock it off Hunt, it's not fucking funny."
This was like a bad dream, no, a nightmare. Hunter was taking it too far, and Mack was slightly freaked out. Her and Hunter always played tricks on each other, much like the guys on Jackass. It was part of their friendship, but this? She would have never thought Hunter would take it this far. Professing her love to her? Kissing her? She didn't think that Hunter was capable of such things. Mack wrenched her hand from Hunter's and took a step backwards from the taller blonde. Thinking about the kiss made her want to throw up all over again. She felt like she wouldn't be clean until she had washed her mouth out with a fifth of 151. Eyeing the punch bowl out of the corner of her eye she wondered if anyone had gotten around to spiking it yet. Any kind of alcohol would be preferable at this point. Avoiding Hunter's attempt to pull her back yet again, she poured herself a cup of punch and swished it vigorously in her mouth before swallowing it. It was sickly sweet and Mack wished she had just spit it out instead of actually drinking it. She felt slightly ill about the whole ordeal, and was about to grumble to herself about how she should have spit the punch at Hunter to get her back for kissing her, when she felt it. She glanced over at Hunter with a look of awe, because she had never seen her friend in this light before. Hunter was gorgeous, a blonde bombshell. Why had she spent so many years chasing skirt when her best friend looked like that? It was like a whole new world had opened up, and Mack couldn't help but take a small step towards the taller girl. She reached her hand out and touched the spot she had struck Hunter gently. "Hey...I'm sorry," she said softly, looking concerned. She felt awful for hitting this beautiful creature. She probably deserve to die. "You just surprised me, I would never hurt you intentionally. I...I love you too much to do that. You're the only one who understands me babe. Please forgive me?" She cupped Hunter's cheek and drew her closer. "I promise to be more gentle, unless," she let out a husky chuckle against Hunter's lips. "You like it rough." The shorter girl closed the small amount of distance between them and pulled Hunter flush against her. It wasn't anything more than an innocent kiss, with the promise of less innocent things of course, but Mack pulled away after a small amount of time went by. "What do you want to do tonight gorgeous? We could dance, or perhaps find somewhere more...private?" She smirked deviously up at Hunter and winked at her.
"I ain't tryin' to be funny!" Hunter shot back quickly, feeling immediately ashamed that Mack would think that. She wasn't kidding or joking around in the slightest, she really was the most beautiful person that the blonde had ever seen. Just looking at her, even as she tried to get away, she was just the cutest. "I love when y'all play hard to get though," she admitted shyly, a grin taking her lips over.
When Mack finally had a sip of the awesome punch, and came around to her senses, Hunter felt a wave of relief wash over her as they kissed. She leaned desperately into the shorter girl's lips, letting out a pathetic whimper when Mack backed off again, though she was once again grinning as soon as the blonde winked at her. Gosh, she was so pretty and totally funny, she was like the perfect girl. Had it really taken her this long to realize it? "No, I got a better idea!" Hunter piped up sharply, giving her throat a loud clearing before she backed up a little bit herself. She still had the ring in her hand, but she sort of forgot what she had gotten that one for. She just sure hoped that green was Mack's favorite color. She was her best friend! Her soul mate! Wasn't she supposed to know things like that? Shame on her. "Here," she said simply, before dropping down onto one knee, which sort of hauled her dress up around her in a funny way. She looked up at Mackenzie, completely straight-faced, as she opened up her hand to reveal the emerald and diamond engagement ring in her open palm. "I thought of ya.. y'know, I really couldn't stop thinkin' about ya. We're like.. I wasted too many damn years! I gotta make ya mine! We're meant to be together, Mack!" She looked like her expression was ready to shatter at any moment of the blonde turned her down, and she could only hope she wouldn't. It was risky, but Mack was the love of her life, so that made it worth it or something. "We're blood brothers, girl.. yer inside me. I can feel y'all inside me! That's a bond you can't break!" she informed her seriously.
Mackenzie made a small noise of protest as Hunter left her embrace. Now that she had found her soul mate, she never wanted to be without her in her arms again. She gasped when Hunter dropped down to one knee and opened her hand to reveal the engagement ring. Her eyes started tearing up and she clapped her hand over her mouth. She couldn't believe that Hunter was asking her to spend the rest of her life with her. It was too good to be true.
"Are you asking me to marry you?" She asked, her voice thick with emotion. She was afraid, but for Hunter it was all worth it. "Of course I'll be yours, Hunt! That's all I've ever wanted!"
Once she saw Mack starting to get teared up, that was all that it took to get Hunter's eyes watering as well. "Is that a yes?" she asked hopefully, her own voice cracking a little as she stared seriously up at the shorter blonde from her vantage point kneeled on the floor. Even though there was a crowd of people all around them, no one even seemed to notice the proposal going on. Couples were enthralled entirely in each other, all over the hall.
She hopped up quickly when Mackenzie agreed to marry her, grinning like a fool and scooping the other girl up into her arms and right off of her feet. She gave her a good spin for good measure, before showering Mack's face with kisses. "Ooo, I jus' love ya, love ya, absolutely love ya!"
Mackenzie squealed as the taller girl scooped her off her feet. Laughing as Hunter showered her face with kisses, she cupped the other girl's face with both hands. "Calm down tiger," she said. She pressed their forehead's together, a happy smile on her face. "I love you too. I can't think of anyone I'd rather spend my life with." She pressed her lips to Hunter's, a huge smile on her face.
"Right?" Hunter agreed happily, grinning like mad and brushing their noses gently together as their foreheads met. "It's like we were meant to be, right from the damn start.. I shoulda known all my life, yer jus' the perfect girl for me! We got so much in common! It's like, where ya been all my life? Beside me!"
Mackenzie couldn't help but grin happily back at Hunter, the taller girl was right. They had been by each other's sides for their whole lives. Hunter had been the first person besides Kia to never leave her, to love her unconditionally. She couldn't believe she hadn't seen it until now.
"The tree house," she said grinning. She was still holding Hunter close and her hands climbed to the girl's bare back, tickling lightly over the skin. "We can move into the old tree house, 'cept I'll fix it up. Make it bigger, it can be our home." She felt her eyes tearing up again, and pulled a hand away from Hunter reluctantly to wipe it. "We can have a family and everything!"
"That's the perfect idea!" Hunter chimed in, grinning right back. "I'll get new curtains," she assured the shorter girl, leaning in to brush their noses together in more eskimo kisses. "We'll fix it right up, and then we can have like.. ten kids. I mean, I dunno if y'know this, but I'm already trained to be a dad. I basically got this under control."
Backing off from Mack a bit, Hunter grabbed the other girl by both of her shoulders, looking at her seriously and with her own eyes tearing up. "There ain't nobody else I'd rather have a family wit' than you! Kia can come an' visit us up in the treehouse, too. We'll build her a guesthouse!"
Mack beamed as Hunter talked about new curtains and kids. She should have known when they had made that house in the woods together. They were meant for each other, meant to spend the rest of their lives together. For better or for worse. "You're going to be a great dad," Mack agreed, as she traded eskimo kisses with Hunter. "The best, you're gonna have one of those cups, worlds greatest dad."
The shorter girl made a small noise of displeasure as Hunter backed off. She was so touched as Hunter looked at her seriously, with tears in her eyes. Mack couldn't believe that she had become so lucky. "Oh Hunt," she whispered, tears in her own eyes. "You're perfect." She couldn't hold herself back any longer. She pulled the taller girl back to her and captured her lips in a a passionate kiss, pressing herself as tightly as she could against her.
"What a damn good ma yer gonna be! You ain't gonna be a regular mom.. gonna be like a cool mom," Hunter laughed, shutting up as soon as Mack kissed her. She felt shivers go from her neck down to her toes with every touch from the shorter blonde. Breaking their kiss just a little, she still spoke close against Mack's lips. "I ain't never gonna leave ya, honest. We were meant to be together, y'know."
She knew she had said it already, but she couldn't say it enough. It was like every time that she looked at the girl, she came back to the realization and she got giddy all over again. Whatever else was going on around them at the dance was merely background noise at this point.
Mackenzie couldn't help but smile as Hunter spoke that sweet promise against her lips. It was everything she could ever hope to hear from the person she loved, and she could feel the tears welling up again. She pressed herself closer to Hunter, feel vulnerable. Hunter was always there, she always had been, even when things were at their darkest in her childhood. Everyone she had ever loved had ended up leaving her in the end, and the promise that she would never leave meant the world to Mackenzie.
"Do you promise?" She asked quietly, pressing a soft kiss to the other girl's lips. "Promise never to leave? I...I can't live without you Hunt, you're my everything." |
