Characters: Jenny, Ella, & Hendrix.
Setting: Noon-ish on December 26th at Jenny & Ella's house in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Content: SFW.
Summary: Aftermath of Sera & Jenny's break-up.

When Jenny actually stepped out of the Floo back in Michigan, she was actually in a sort of daze. Had that really just happened? There was really no sense in denying it, there hadn't been a hint of a joke in Sera's voice and if it was a joke, it was an awfully cruel one. It hurt way too much to be anything but true, and she barely managed to contain herself as she shoved her way past a few people clustered around the street in front of the station. Keeping her head ducked down and her new book still held against her chest, she practically ran all of the way home. She only kept herself from crying by biting hard on her bottom lip, trying not to think about Sera or about what this meant.

They were over, done, and it wasn't something that came with a quick fix. If her father was opposed enough to put one of his own children on the street, then there was really no telling what he could do next. It killed her to let the brunette go, that her girlfriend was just giving up on her, on them. But it killed her even more than she knew exactly where the younger girl was coming from. It wasn't everyone who had parents as accepting and relaxed as Paula and Ron, and Michael Donnelly was a perfect example. In a rare occurrence for her, Jenny felt a sudden flare of hatred for him, for what he had done and how many people he had hurt with it, both directly and indirectly.

When she reached her front door at last, she hesitated for a moment outside, sniffling a bit and finally letting down her guard a little bit. She couldn't pace around outside forever, it was freezing for one and she hadn't even brought a coat with her, but she knew that as soon as she went in, everyone would know something was up. If her mom started asking her twenty questions, she was sure that she would break down in front of the whole family, plus Hen. The only hope she had was avoiding Paula and getting straight to their bedroom, where she could just lay in bed and cry to her hearts content with a good silencing charm on the room.

Quietly opening the door, she bit her lip hard again to keep herself from making too much noise, though her eyes were still wet and puffy. Slipping out of her sneakers, she made her way further into the house and peered into the kitchen and dining room, finding them empty. Ella and Hendrix had been watching television in the living room earlier, and Jenny wasn't sure that she could sneak past the two of them, so she really only had one chance to get by. Maybe they wouldn't notice her. Deciding to go for it, she ran for the stairs, bounding up them two at a time and into their bedroom. Even the door slammed slightly behind her, as she leaned on it for a second before heading over to her bottom bunk, tossing herself down and burying herself under the mess of blankets that she had only gotten out of a few hours ago, back when everything had been seemingly normal.

Letting out a little whimper, it didn't take long before her little sniffs dissolved back into the same hard crying she had been doing back in Maine, shaking her whole body as she held onto the nearest pillow. She needed to do something, but she didn't know what. She wanted to cry, scream in Sera's face, and hold her all at the same time. It was basically the worst feeling the world, one she hadn't felt since Charlie had left her behind.

Hendrix had been particularly cute after Christmas. Visiting the twin's house was different now, he wasn't just visiting his best friend's house, he was visiting his girlfriend's house. They had been snuggling and watching tv, talking about nothing and of course playing with the puppy.

Like a flash though, he saw Jenny dart up the stairs. Pushing his glasses up he looked over at Ella, concern coloring his face. "El... do you know what's going on with Jenny?" he asked quietly. "She doesn't look so good..."

It wasn't normal that Jenny didn't come say hi to the new puppy before disappearing upstairs and with a frown Ella looked up at the ceiling. "Let's go check it out!" she said, giving Hen a kiss on the nose before throwing the blanket off of them and walking towards the staircase, trailed by two dogs and a boyfriend.

Jenny really hadn't known where to start. She figured that she should probably have texted Meka and let her know what was up, maybe she would have something positive to say, or she could even text Mack and see that everything got taken care of. Mack would talk some sense into her, tell her that she couldn't just stay cooped up in there under her father's thumb.

Except that she was pretty sure that Sera was beyond talking to, and that was half of her problem. Burying herself deeper into the blanket, she pulled them tighter around her head and shoved her face against the pillow, starting to cry harder.

She didn't really have the energy or mindset to text or deal with anyone, she just felt weak and helpless, something she rarely let herself be. That was why she was supposed to be Head Girl, she was composed and in charge of her life, not just some push over. But it hurt too much, really, to do anything except cry. She didn't even know if she had locked the door, but if her mother came in wanting to talk, she just couldn't do it right then.

Hendrix obligingly followed Ella up the stairs and to the twin's bed room. He was cautious, walking quietly and carefully toward the door. He could hear her crying. He touched Ella's shoulder gently and looked at her concerned. There was only one thing that crossed his mind that would have her so upset but there was no way...

"Do you think it has something to do with Ser?" he asked quietly before they went into the room.
