Samir craned his neck up, trying to see where the smoke ended but it seemed to rise all the way to the sun. A let out a low whistle. "D'ya think the muggles can see that?"
Just as Gemma squeezed his hand a streak of silver passed them and darted into the woods. A patronus, requesting assistance from Bluebell Town, he assumed. "We've done so well, sugar" he corrected her gently, staring at the patronus fading into the thicket.
"I hope so," she said quietly. "Let them know we're here. Let them know how powerful we are," she was delighted in their success and had to wonder why she hadn't though of it sooner.
"You're right," she said gently. She had noticed the patronus as well and smiled. "It will be another few minutes until the response teams come and they're faster than muggles," the smile she wore was triumphant. "Imagine the things we could do."
"I wish they'd all come and have a look. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel" Samir joked. Wrapping an arm around Gemma's shoulders he stood and watched the twisted wreckage burn.
"There aint no way Sato can squirm outta this one" he remarked.
She calmly watched the flames curling around what was once considered a car and watched the smoke twisting in the sky. There was a sort of peace in watching their destructive work. The thought of what they were going to get into in the next year was almost too much. This was just the beginning.
"There will be instability," she said, her voice shaking with anticipation. "No one will trust the authority, no one will feel safe. They will be ours for the taking Samir. Tonight, I believe is a night we will celebrate."
Victory seemed so close he could almost taste it. Of course, they had a long way to go really, but nothing could dampen his spirits now. Except one thing. "I'll probably have to show my face at a crisis meetin' or somethin' but after that I'm yours" he joked.
"What's the best way to celebrate somethin' like this?" he asked.
"Of course," she said. "And perhaps it would be best advised to offer your services to security for a later date," she smiled warmly.
"A night on the town I suppose," she winked. "Or private drinks at the cabin if even the muggle bars are too suspicious. We are in a period of mourning I suppose," her eyes were alive with mischief.
"We could wear disguises" Samir mused. "I've always wanted a mustache. You would look lovely as a blonde" he joked, nonplussed at the burning wreckage mere feet from them.
Gemma snorted briefly, disguising it as an anguished cry and burying her face in his chest for those around them. "A most excellent proposition. Thank you for thinking so," she beamed. "And I could see you wearing a most handsome mustache."
She was far too worked up to just go home. Tonight there would surely be consequences for muggles who came across the two of them. |
