To say that Hunter lived for moments of great responsibility was a bit of a stretch, but there was still that lingering reason why she had becoming an auror. Nearly there now, she reminded herself, as the explosion suddenly shook the ground behind her. She had scarcely paying attention to the speech, her arms crossed and back slouched as she chewed gum loudly and half-listened.
Panic only seemed to take a few seconds to set in though, and Hunter whipped around to see the direction, watching the flames in the parking lot. She was nearly pushed over by a screaming woman running that way. "Holy fuck," she half-whispered. Three immediate thoughts came to mind; where was Michi, how was her truck, and where did she start.
They had done drills and simulations in their labs, but this was a real life shitstorm. She could see a few people with blood on them, one boy cradling his face as it dripped between his fingers. She was surprised that it turned her stomach a bit. How much of her own blood had she seen? But it was different when it was some kid.
Without really taking time to wonder what had actually happened, Hunter assured Mack and Kia that she'd be back 'in a jiff', taking off toward the parking lot at full speed. People were already gathering around, faculty and some of the instructors from the LAW that taught her auror training. She ignored them mostly, working her way along and pulling people to their feet, making sure no one was dead.
She wasn't sure what it was, but something about helping people always brought out the wannabe hero in her. The usual goofy smile wasn't even on her face while she worked, rushing people along as she saw they were okay, casting quick spells to heal up wounds as she found them.
She had been in the process of helping someone to stand up and head back to the field, when she looked up and noticed her truck. It was a few parking spaces away from her, and the explosion. There was a slightly smoking and charred side mirror from the exploded car sticking right out of her windshield. Around it, though it was stuck, all of the other glass had begun to spread into a spiderweb of cracks.
"Oh fuckin' come on!" the blonde shouted, clutching her face with open palms as she rushed over to survey the damage. The windshield was definitely toast. "Son of a whore motherfucker bitch fuck! Goddamnit!"
