Summary: The sisters visit, italics means sign language
Ellie was growing worried. She hadn't heard from Gemma in weeks and she was almost positive she had figured out who was behind the parents weekend bombing. She had warned Gemma not to be careless, not to put students in danger but she knew that her older sister wouldn't listen. Gemma was a real pain in the ass like that sometimes. She had flirted with the cook to get a pot of soup and some bread. It had been easy enough even without the ability to speak. She just touched his arm, smiled, and fluttered her eye lashes at him like an idiot. He was easy, like putty in her hands.
She walked swiftly through the quiet campus grounds and slipped into the woods undetected. She made fast work of getting off the campus before turning on her heel and apparating to the well known cabin in the woods. She saw the light of the fire and was sure she could hear her sister singing lightly. Ellie leaned against the tree outside and closed her eyes, letting the gentle sound fill her ears for as long as she could. The singing stopped then all she could hear was the soft padding of bare feet across the cabin floor and then out into the woods. She kept her eyes closed until she knew her sister was right in front of her.
"One of these days you're going to get yourself killed," Gemma spoke softly before embrassing the other woman.
One of these days you're going to stub your toe. Put some damn boots on or I'm telling ma, she grinned in the darkness.
Gemma laughed and pushed her sister's arm. "Fuck off Ellie."
I love your sweater, Ellie smirked.
"Thanks," Gemma said. "I thought it was quite funny so I stole it from a college girl. Call me, she says," Gemma snorted. "As if I even have a phone."
I brought soup and bread for you and Eddie, she held out her basket which Gemma take graciously. You damn maniac.
"Good, Eddie makes an excellent house wife when it comes to cleaning but his cooking is for the dogs," she rolled her eyes. "One of these days we're going to need to steal that darling cook of yours and bring him here."
He's not my darling cook. He's in love with the guidance counselor. I just flirt with him on occasion for bread and soup, she grinned.
"Fuck Ellie, this is like academy all over again," she laughed and dragged her sister into the small cabin. "I'll have him for my own one of these days. This soup is the fucking best."
Don't be greedy you already have Sam, Ellie smiled. It was a blissfully normal conversation with her sister and one she would give anything for.
"Oh please," Gemma flapped her hand on Ellie. "Samir is my best friend, besides, there's no time for men or women. There'll never be time for that foolishness," her voice took on a more serious tone.
And what's your plan?
I'm going to overthrow the damn government Ellie, Gemma signed to her sister silently. We're going to start with the school and work our way to the local government. They'll never see it coming Ellie.
Government overthrow comes with a price. Are you sure you're willing to pay it? Ellie raised an eyebrow. She was sure she knew the answer; Gemma never gave up once she had started and this was something that had been started years ago.
I am willing to pay any price. I know it's right and I'd give anything for it. We are elite Ellie, we should not run and hide in fear. We shouldn't have to. We have the power to control them, we should put them in their rightful place...
Don't. Don't start this radical thing with me Gemma.
"It's right and you know it. Why else would you break up with that filthy, fuckin' mud blood?" Gemma said, her voice sweet but her smile full of daggers.
Ellie's face contorted and she shook her head. There are venom in your words, even to me, you damn sister...
"You know I wouldn't say it unless it was true," she said, her voice measured and quiet. She'd be damned if she didn't at least try to convince her sister otherwise. "You're a witch. Be proud of it Ellie, be powerful."
And what's this fucking brilliant plan of yours?
Slowly at first. We'll take the students, we'll take the school, and then we'll walk right into the positions of power. We'll take out rightful places. Gemma's face was full of delight.
Really fucking stupid Gem, she signed to her sister. You're going to get yourself killed along with Eddie and Sam and all the students you intend to recruit! Her flustered face said it all though. This is a god damn suicide mission.
"You don't know what you're talking about Ellie!" Gemma sputtered as she watched her signs hands flinging about the place angrily. "This is... this is bigger than us! This is bigger than anything! We can't just sit back and just... fuck off. I'm not living out here like a fucking rat with stolen soup and bread for nothing."
It wasn't stolen, Ellie's chin was held high as she signed it. She would never steal especially when things were gotten so easily without that disgusting habit of stealing. Ace is not giving up on finding you. He never will...
"So what? You want me to run? You want me to run forever? I aint doin' it Ellie and you know that's the fuckin' truth. I aint stoppin' 'til I get what I want. Got it?"
When will it become apparent to you that nothing you do is ever going to change the way things are?
"Never," she said simply, her finger nails digging into her skin, leaving little red patches. "I can't and I won't stop. Nora..."
Nora is dead. Her lips shook ever so slightly as she interrupted her sister.
Gemma's nostrils flared, the only thing that ever even hinted at the fact that she was angry. "I know she's dead and I will never forget that. I will avenge her death and I will change the way the world looks at filthy fucking muggles."
Ellie shook her head. You're going to die Gemma.
"I don't care," she got up from her seat and walked over to the door which she pushed open and held for his sister. "I love you Ellie but if you plan on getting in my way... I'll kill ya myself," she whispered. "Go."
Ellie stood and walked with a purpose past her sister. She stopped once she was outside the door and looked back at Gemma, anger dancing in her eyes. I won't get in your way but I will not watch you destroy the only bit of your life you have left.
"Then remember me from before," she said. "Goodbye Ellie."
Goodbye Gemma, as she signed it, bitter tears rolled down her cheeks. She stood there as the door shut in her face and she heard the click of the lock and then ran back to campus where she threw herself onto her bed in her small house and laid there, drinking in the silence.
