Hunter was actually pretty pleased with the results of the homecoming court, especially her own title. She would have preferred for she and Michi to be king and queen respectively, but there was nothing with the way things had gone. They both won something, and she was more than happy with a princess.
Naturally, upon the announcement of her own name, she had decided to make a big show of accepting. Heading up on the stage to join the rest of the court, she was grinning widely, crouching down a bit to receive her crown and shooting the crowd some thumbs up. She only wished Mack was here to see this, she would probably get a kick out of it if she wasn't busy sulking in her room or whatever she was doing tonight. "Your majesty," she purred back as Sunny address her, waggling her eyebrows at the younger girl and holding her arm out. "It'd be my pleasure, better believe it," she informed her, not even trying to keep a straight face.
Sunny laughed as she accepted Hunter's arm and practically pranced over to the dance floor. "So I gotta tell ya, I admire the shit out of you on the quodpot pitch," Sunny said as they began dancing.
"You guys are killing it this year!"
Hunter laughed loudly, surprisingly graceful as she led the younger girl in their dance. "Y'know, you ain't nothin' to sneeze at yourself.. lemme tell ya, makes me wish I wasn't graduatin' next year. I sure as shit can't wait to see ya playin' for university," she laughed.
"We already stole Donnelly from y'all, you're next."
"Well shucks," and despite herself she flushed a bit at Hunter's comment. "I know! We'd make a friggin dream team!" she said brightly. "Maybe we should play a no score game against Shenandoah," she laughed. "Those assholes need to get shut up, even when they loose they're unbearable."
"I know! I miss having Donnelly! He's an excellent player, great energy!" She wasn't sure anyone else would spend their homecoming dance talking quodpot but she wasn't surprised that they were.
"Don't even get me thinkin' bout it, girl! I'll make the Headmaster bump ya up a year myself," she warned the brunette, laughing. There was no disguising the look of disgust on the blonde's face at the mention of Shenandoah, and she shook her head fiercely. "Fuck yeah we should! I'd love to cream them assholes and see the look on Chuck's face.. she's a real sore loser, her buddy too, she's even worse. What a cunt," Hunter replied, laughing again.
Charlie was okay, but Alex was a real piece of work, that was for sure. Hunter had no time for stuck up bitches like that. "Well, he's ours now. Looks like a real wimp but he surprises the hell outta me every time! I dunno how the hell he does some of the stuff he does, he's quick," the tall girl said with surprising admiration. She thought her entire team was amazing, though none as amazing as her, but Rath Donnelly was definitely a gem. She liked a player who didn't whine about getting blown up once in a while.
Sunny laughed. She had always wanted to play on the University team and the University captain telling her she wanted her on the team was just too awesome. "Me too! Beating them is like... my favorite part of about quodpot and... can I tell ya a secret?" she looked around, a little mischief in her smile. "I always aim for their center. It's not my fault she's never paying attention," Sunny laughed brightly.
"Right? That kid could take anything and he's like a twig!" she exclaimed. "Guess I can't talk much though, most people see me and think they're gonna snap me in half," she roared in laughter.
"That's the bitch I meant! Always on her phone, what is up with that?" Hunter scoffed, shaking her head in disappointment. There was no way she'd ever be a center on any team of Hunter's, that was for sure. "Weird part is, I heard before that her dad was a legend or some shit for their house. Go figure."
Scoffing again, Hunter waved a hand dismissively at Sunny's words. "Forget that! It's always the little ones that got all the spitfire.. never judge a book by the back or whatever that sayin' is."
"Yeah! What the hell is that?! Aint quodpot if your face is shoved in your phone," she rolled her eyes. "I heard the same, and her cousin is the other one... uh... Dani. She's wicked good too," she shrugged. "Politics for ya, right?"
She laughed brightly and did a little spin. "Right? I think it's something along those lines," she nodded.
"Her cousin is a boss! Makes me feel good to beat her, cause she tries. But that's how it goes though I guess," Hunter agreed, shrugging as well. "Talent skips a generation. Or she's just wastin' it away, I dunno!" she sighed, it made her want to throw up her arms in exasperation. She just didn't get why the girl was even on the team, but she supposed that was how old wizarding money worked at the end of the day. No different than a rich muggle.
Holding onto the younger girl's hand as she spun, Hunter grinned. "You'll do good next year, we got a hell of a line-up even if I'll be gone.. gonna see if I can't get Mich for captain after I'm gone. Need to have a good year after a shitty one," she mused, sounding momentarily soft and quickly clearing her throat. "Or whatever, y'know. I wanna see my boo up there kickin' it."
"I hope she doesn't have a natural talent for it cause that would piss me off even more," Sunny snorted. "The rest of us work our asses off! I mean literally! Like... how many quodpot players you know with a butt?" she laughed.
Sunny smiled warmly at the older girl at the mention of her girlfriend. She definitely was as fierce as everyone thought she was but there was a soft side to her, no matter how often she showed it, it was there. "Well thanks, I'm sure she'll make an excellent captain. It's a damn shame she's takin the rest of the season off," she said. "One of the better centers I've ever seen. It's always nice to see other girls out there killing it."
"Hey, I got a li'l bit of an ass! Somewhat," Hunter protested, laughing a bit. "I'd offer to show ya, but I'm tied down and all that now.. spoken for," she added, grinning.
She gave a weak nod at Michi taking the season off, trying hard not to outright pout. She still wasn't quite over losing the other girl on her team for a whole year, her last year, even if it was for the best. "It sucks," the blonde groaned in agreement. "Way better than that fuckin' Shenandoah center! She sure as shit ain't gonna make no university team.. here or no where else," she grunted. "We need a fierce team, gotta be how it is. Hard work, s'what it's about! Otherwise we'll all turn into weaklings like Quidditch players," she grinned.
Sunny couldn't stop laughing. "Well shoot, you'll have to give me some pointers on that," she joked.
"Yeah, if the University team had a player like that we'd never win! And if I had a player like that on my team?" she shook her head. "I'd either whoop their ass into shape or give 'em the boot!"
"Sorry baby, it's all natural an' shit. I was jus' born with a behind this fine," Hunter grinned.
The tall blonde shuddered visibly at the thought, nodding vigorously in agreement with Sunny before she gave the smaller girl another twirl. "Right? Fuck that shit. We play to win, only gettin' on my line-up if you got the right attitude an' shit.. gotta prove yourself. I know the best of the best!"
"Lucky!" Sunny laughed. "I was born a box, a colorful refrigerator box but a box nonetheless," she joked.
"That's the way it aughta be," Sunny nodded in agreement. "Can't let just anyone on the team cause they want the dang prestige or whatever of bein' on a quodpot team," she rolled her eyes. "It's a damn disgrace!"
"I guess the perfect ass gene jus' runs in my family," she joked back, laughing. "I hope to pass it on one day.. y'know, keep the ass in Roanoke quodpot, send my protege along some day."
Hunter peered over the top of Sunny's head, as if expecting to see Chuck and her friend, but they weren't anywhere she could see. "I dunno why she don't kick the bitch off, even if they are friends.. she cost 'em the last two games, don'tcha think?" she went on, shrugging.
"Legend my friend, legend," she said cheerfully.
"I think so too! For the most part they were playin' wicked fierce but she coulda made so many saves if she hadn't had her head buried in that phone. If I was Chuck I woulda broken that phone by now. Thrown it into th elake er somethin'," she laughed. |
