[info]inrunes: Intro Post - Heimdall's Aett

Amos Taber
Amos is a troubled kid. Destruction tends to follow him and he’s not really up for understanding why or seeing when something positive has come from whatever the ordeal may have been. He gets frustrated pretty easily and is often at the mercy of his anger. To add to this, Amos has issues with his identity - he was born and raised in the Runic Kingdom, and has apparently been gifted with THAT THING by their Gods. But his parents originally came from the Kingdom of Swords and life here hasn’t been that easy for them with the war and all. He doesn’t really feel like he belongs here, even though it’s the only home he has ever known.

Amos’ parents moved to the Runic Kingdom to pursue opportunities in seafaring. His father is often at sea, and Amos has shown an interest in boats himself. He has been allowed to travel on them with his father sometimes and has started learning the ropes, so to speak. Many of the port towns were hit quite hard by the war though and Mýrar was no exception - rebuilding efforts are continuing. Things have been tense between groups in the town throughout this process though.. and his family is expecting it will take some time for those tensions to die down even though they had no lot in the war personally.

As for his relationships.. I’m not sure! He could be related to someone currently in Swords - maybe there could be some visiting either way? Also, I think he’ll be spending more and more time helping out on trade ships and the like - which may see him have some interactions in other places before the ship heads back. (Maybe he’ll sneakily stay a while?)

Kale Víkarson
Another military kid. He was recruited - rune, power, duty and all of that blab. I think Kale feels a bit trapped by it all though, and maybe wishes he had taken another path. He is still in training and intends to see it through to the end. He’s a decent enough fighter, but his talents lie in his gift - Kale has been given Heimdall’s sight (well.. not being able to see to the ends of the world, but he definitely has heightened vision - seeing farther/more clearly than other people.) He would obviously be useful as a scout and excels with ranged weaponry. He can focus on close quarters fighting as well, but still has work to do there.

Kale is patient. He tends to finish the things he starts. He’s a good constant - you can rely on him. He often feels stuck though - like he’s always waiting or doing the same thing. Sometimes it’s comforting, other times it’s frustrating. His family are craftsmen and he wonders if he would like to go back and learn their trade (woodcraft?) after his service is over. He’d have good attention to detail, after all.

Kale is friends with fellow Rune and trainee, Trygve. Trygve is almost finished his training.. and I’m pretty sure he’ll invite Kale to come along when he and Jovina run off. He won’t go though. So I’m not sure what his relationships will be like otherwise. :E Probably not anything for a bit with him.

Liv Mævadóttir
Liv is a tough cookie and yet another warrior in the military (they really do like to get these types into the ranks). She enjoys a good fight and reveled in the big battles of the last war. She can be a bit of a risk taker - finding that the closer to death you are, the more alive you feel. And Liv certainly got herself into some scrapes, but she’s a strong one. She’s also very dependable and can be relied upon to lend a hand to her fellow countrymen. Liv has been granted Heimdall’s hearing. (Again, she can’t hear a single leaf fall, but does have greater sense than everyone else. She can single certain things out as well. Though it isn’t always the greatest gift - it has been known to make sleep difficult for her. But it’s not really something she complains about. It’s been helpful to her and her Kingdom and she wouldn’t have it any other way.)

I don’t think Liv is particularly close to her family. She doesn’t have any romantic interests at the moment either. She lives for war and to walk that line between life and death whenever she can. The rest of the time, she serves her Kingdom in whatever capacity she can. At the moment she’s aiding the rebuilding effort and also helping to keep the peace in those towns worst hit by the war. Still, she longs for something a little more exciting.

I’m not sure about her relationships - she’s not really that close to people. I think, possibly, the person she’s closest is Gudvar (he was leader of the military, after the High Chieftain, of course, during the recent conflict and has since moved to training new recruits.) Anyway, I think they have some similarities and recognise that. Blahlala. She could potentially have war enemies though. Or else be helping with efforts in someone’s town. I would love for her to get in to trouble elsewhere, but she’s pretty faithful to her Kingdom and would probably stay and be bored helping repair/guard shit or whatever. XD I don’t know, we’ll see if something can happen. XD Her hearing would make her a bloody useful spy. /There’s an idea/. Maybe she can be sent off for that. (Though she’s a bit.. blunt to be a spy. XD Could be fun though!)

Sigrún Tumadóttir
Sigrun was lucky enough to be a child of one of the ancient warrior clans. Born into wealth and respect, she never had much to worry about growing up. Although this may have left her with a bit of a skewed sense of entitlement. That fact that she was chosen by the Gods to embody a Rune and take some sort of power was just par for the course. Or at least that’s what she’d been led to believe. It wasn’t really true, she found - people from all walks of life were like her. Fuck, I’m already writing useless bullshit. XD OKAY. So keeping with the senses, Sigrun has a heightened sense of touch. It doesn’t sound particularly useful, but she ended up training to be healer and found that she could tell more through touch, obviously helping to diagnose the problem. As Walderik rose through political and social circles, Sigrun took notice of him and he of her. She was interesting to him, and made sure she stayed that way. It was a competitive world, and she knew where he was headed. Blah la.. Sigrun runs hot and cold. She can be passionate and heated, then turn around and become cold as ice. This has certainly caused some issues within the family. (She and Walderik married and had three kids.. she stopped being a healer. Castle! Stuff.)

I guess the main things to know are the weirdo touch thing, the hot and cold extremes and the fact that she’s the wife of the High Chieftain. Her relationship with everyone in her family is a bit crap given the extremes in mood/level of care. Walderik is always busy.. she stopped work for family. But a lot of times there wasn’t much of that. She does get bored and she does get lonely. That has definitely led to infidelity. She assumes he has to though, so what’s the problem? She currently jealous of their newest family member - Runa. Walderik is showing a lot of interest in her. She’s the new mystery.

Anyway. Relationships! She’ll obviously interact with her family. Beyond that I know she’s good friends with Audo - they often gamble together. Aspects of her rune can offset some of his luck, it seems. She also has a special friend at the moment.. and has probably had others in the past. XD I don’t know if she would have much interaction with people outside the Kingdom though. :/

Gudvar Árnason
Please let me cut to the chase a bit more with this one. XD Gudvar was the leader of the military (under the High Chietain’s command) for many years. He was in that position prior to, during, and following the war. He has changed roles recently though - opting to be involved in the training of new recruits rather than leading the current ones. Obviously he can lead and inspire people, make difficult decisions and be quite formidable in battle himself. But he’s also.. fatherly in a way. He’s protective of his warriors (and now his newbies) and understands their different techniques and requirements - he was always good at picking the right people for the job and forming effective groups/regiments.

His father was a military man and he was encouraged to become one as well. He was close to his mother and surrounding family in his youth - many of whom lived and worked in Bygomanidalr. He kept in contact with them throughout his training and into his military career - and still sees whoever is left. That’s really the extent of his family life though. He never married and had children of his own - his fellow warriors were his family.. and now these recruits.. they could be like his children. But he’s still tough on them. They’re training to become warriors, after all! (I have to work out his gods thing too. XD)

So anyway.. he’d obviously know the High Chieftain and Co. and probably any military-trained warriors that fought in the recent conflict. He’d also know his current recruits. He might have some enemies in the other Kingdoms given the whole war business. But otherwise, as usual, I’m not sure.

Sólveig Brúnmansdóttir
Solveig bears a lot of similarities to Sigrun (I was running out of ideas?) She was also born into wealth and privilege and led a trouble free childhood. She was of the impression that she could do almost anything with her life. The sudden death of her father led her to studying healing (SEE) - something that she would succeed at. (Though given her rune, success was often a give. She’s very driven. But also caring. Being a healer is a good fit for her.)

I don’t really have a lot worked out for her. She seems nice enough and does enjoy being a healer, but she could probably set her mind to all sort of things and succeed. I could definitely have her travel - maybe take her skills to another Kingdom for a while? She doesn’t really have any relationships. OH. Her ‘blessing’ from Heimdall is his lack of a requitement to sleep. She doesn’t seem to need it - which is great if you have a project.. but can get boring (and amusingly tiresome.) She thinks it would be nice to be able to switch off completely (she can to some degree). But her alertness is something that, when paired with that drive of hers, means that she /can/ achieve just about anything.

I do sort of have ideas for Amos and Gudvar’s missing SKILLZ.. I just have to work out who gets what and how they will work. XD

Anyway, as usual - sorry for the blablabla-fest. Only one other lot (although I do have to work out the cards I have from you guys.. so maybe another after that. Oh dear. XD)

HERRO! OK so!

Amos Taber
I could definitely see him being related to the Swords. He could either be related to the Wycliffes (Tristan and Adrienne) or to Lily Asher or possibly to Genevieve OR to Liam Bard. The Wycliffes are warrior folk, Lily is a gossip queen and personal assistant to Queen Elizabeth, and Genevieve is married to King Louis. Liam is Elizabeth's son, his father died but he had survived brothers and sisters (which could be one of Amos's parents). Either way he could definitely come hang out with the Swords. Adrienne could have possibly met him when he was there and OMG KID FROM NEVERENDING STORY THAT'S WHERE I KNOW HIM FROM. XD

Kale Vikarson
OOO! OOO! OOO! ME ME ME! My runes need friends! Ok so, I have Brynja, the high cheiftan's daughter and she trains people for the military. She's kind of a space cadet and kind of flight but she's good at what she does and she's very understanding and sweet if a little weird. Then I also of Ulfr, who is Sveinn's and Ivarr's brother. I'm actually looking for something to do with him, I haven't figured out what he does in peace times but he was a veteran of the Runic war.

Liv Mævadóttir
Bryn and Ulfr would certainly know her from the war. She probably doesn't think too much of Bryn cause she's a flighty broad XD I don't know how she would feel about Ulfr. He's totally over war now, he's had his fill and is ready to just hang out xD If she got sent out into another kingdom it would certainly be interesting to see her interact with any of the Swords. I feel like she would get along with them as they are all about military training.

Sigrún Tumadóttir
SO! We definitely talked about momface a while ago in email xD BUT to reiterate mostly because I have a shit memory. Bryn is her kid and they had a somewhat tumultuous touch and go relationship as she was growing up but Bryn is trying to work on it now that she's older. Ulfr is up for grabs, I don't have much with him right now just that he's a Sveinn's dad and no longer a warrior.

Gudvar Árnason
So he would definitely know Bryn and Ulfr, possibly fought with them both. Bryn stayed on to train other warriors but Ulfr left the military after the war.

Sólveig Brúnmansdóttir
I don't think she would know Bryn but they look like they might be close in age so they might be unlikely friends. And again Ulfr is entirely open to possibilities and I'm open for anything. :D
