Character BasicsFULL NAME: Lydia Samantha Reese
NICKNAMES: Lydia.. not much you can do with that.
AGE: 16
BIRTHDATE: May 16, 1994
YEAR: 11th Grade.
GRADE POINT AVERAGE: What kind of grades do they make? A's, B's or C's, etc. Keep in mind that anything less than a C would result in IC disciplinary action from the school.
CLASSES ENROLLED IN: Literature & Writing (1), Advanced Dance (2), Drawing & Painting (3)
ACTIVITIES: None.
BLOOD STATUS: Definitely pure.
POLITICAL VIEWS: While her father is very much a purist, she really can't bring herself to care about things like bloodlines.
Family/RelationshipsPARENTS:
MOTHER: Unknown to Lydia. A french woman who looks very much like Lydia. Lydia has not seen her since she was a baby.
FATHER: Craig Reese. Businessman. They do not have a close relationship.
SIBLINGS: None/Unknown. It's possible her mother has re-married and had more children since leaving her father.
EXTENDED FAMILY: Unknown/Open. Her father does have a much younger brother and her mother could have siblings, but Lydia is not aware of any extended family.
AMP Status: She is a part of the AMP, much to her own chagrin. It's not so bad, she supposes. It's not like she's ever expected to find true love or any of that other fairy tale crap, no matter how a part of her wishes for it.
AppearanceAPPEARANCE: Lydia has a fair complexion and blonde hair that usually hangs well past her shoulders. She stands at about 5'7, which is a little above average for her age and she sometimes feels like a bit of a giant next to her shorter peers, but she doesn't feel remotely awkward in her own body. Lydia carries herself with an air of confidence that suggests she knows she's attractive.
She dresses in designer clothing, always wearing the latest fashions. She's not obsessed with fashion or anything, but she's certainly wealthy enough that she can afford to buy whatever hot new thing is in the stores on any given day.
Lydia's penchant for boots, especially those with a bit of a heel, can make her seem even more imposing than the scowl that is almost always present on her features does. It's rare to see a genuine smile on this girl's face, though if you can get her to smile or laugh, it's brilliant enough to light up a room.
PREFERRED PB: Ludivine Sagnier (she's older now, but there are plenty of younger images of her)
PersonalityLIKES: Cooking, oddly enough. It relaxes her. Boys, booze, dancing.
DISLIKES: Affection from random strangers. She's not a hugger. Sweets - she doesn't have much of a sweet tooth at all, save a penchant for European chocolate.
STRENGTHS: Fluent in French. Good with languages in general. She's an
excellent dancer. Plays piano moderately well. Intelligent. Witty. Well-read.
WEAKNESSES: Cool and aloof, sometimes anti-social, unless she's out partying. Not very good with defensive magic and has a hard time paying attention in history and astronomy classes - they just don't interest her. Not remotely athletic, despite her natural grace on the dance floor.
DETAILED PERSONALITY: Cold-hearted bitch is a typical first impression when people meet Lydia. She rarely smiles and she's certainly not the most friendly or welcoming person you will ever meet. She's built up this tough outer shell and while those walls do come down as you get to know her, she's definitely not one of those bright, bubbly girls that everyone instantly wants to know better.
She's spoiled, at least when it comes to the material things in life. Lydia lives a life of luxury - amazing cars, the latest fashions, anything else that money can buy. If it's new and hot, she has it. To look at the girl, you would think there is no reason for her to be the stony bitch she can appear to be at times.
Those who know her well, though, know that Lydia doesn't give affection easily because it was never given to her, even as a child. She's uncomfortable with hugging and other touchy feely nonsense, but at the same time she craves it. She craves physical affection like an addict craves heroin, even if she would never be bold enough to ask for it.
Lydia wants more than anything to find love. The kind of unconditional love that hangs around no matter what, the kind of love she never had as a child, any kind, really. She falls far too easily into deep infatuations, never knowing how to differentiate between lust and the real thing. All she knows is that it feels good to get physically close to someone, however fleeting that feeling is. It's never quite enough to sate her, not for long, but the cheap imitation is enough to keep her chasing after whatever it is that's missing.
The result is that Lydia is a little bit... loose. At a school like Eligere, of course, she's had to be a little more discrete about her interludes with the opposite sex, but there hasn't been a lack of attractive males willing to indulge her craving for something a little more than platonic and those who have shared a bed with her - figuratively speaking, in most instances - have found that beneath the cool exterior there's a lot of passion.
HistoryCHILDHOOD: Lydia wouldn't say she's had a
horrible childhood, but she certainly didn't have a happy one, either. She was very small when her parents separated, her French mother returning home as her father stayed behind in New York to raise her on his own. Lydia wasn't even walking, yet, and she has no real memories of her the woman who gave birth to her or what life was like when she was a part of a family. As far as she is concerned, it's always been just she and her father (and the people who work for him, of course - growing up, she tended to spend more time with the employees than with the man who had fathered her).
She was sent to boarding schools from the time she was young. While most children would have loved such an adventure, going to school away from home, but Lydia has always said that anyone who believes that hasn't been shipped away to boarding schools for their entire childhood. Boarding school was for children whose parents who didn't want them. Lydia has always known that was the case with her. She never got an ounce of love or affection from the man who was "raising" her.
Lydia didn't let it get to her, though. There was no sense crying over something that couldn't be changed and she learned to adapt. She became fiercely independent, knowing that she could only depend on one person in this world truly loving her and that person was herself. She knew Craig would be there if she really needed some material thing. She's never lacked for money or clothing or the latest... anything. She likes to tell herself she hasn't been neglected, because she's always had everything she needed.
Everything but love, that is.
When her father chose Eligere Academy for her secondary education, Lydia didn't fight him. It was just another boarding school to her. She didn't even balk at the idea of being betrothed to marry someone she had never met. Love wasn't something she ever expected to find and at least this was a guarantee she wouldn't end up alone.
AT ELIGERE. Arriving at Eligere wasn't much of an adjustment for Lydia. It was just another boarding school. Another dorm room, another set of people to interact with. She's never been one to make
close friends, but she did find herself a few friendly acquaintances and the boys were attractive enough. The school had that going for it, at least.
It would be misleading to say that Lydia toned down her wilder ways when she arrived at the prestigious academy. It would be much more accurate to say that she learned to hide them better. It didn't take her long to figure out how to smuggle booze in or the learn which boys were willing to fool around on the girls they were promised to. Lydia settled easily into a routine - one that involved spending more time in various boys' beds than her own or sneaking into down for a little more aggressive partying from time to time. It was easy to avoid getting caught once you learned how the system worked.
It's the beginning of her junior year now and her impending marriage is starting to feel a little more real, but Lydia isn't ready to change her ways. It's harder to sneak out for a good time now that she's living with her betrothed, of course, but she figures she'll manage. Either that, or she'll convince him to share his bed with her on a regular basis. Possibly a combination of both.

Pea AmyBLURB: To her friends, she's the party girl who always knows where the fun is. To everyone else, Lydia comes across as a little quiet, a little spoiled and a little bit of a know it all in some of her classes. She doesn't have many
close friends, but that's how she prefers it - it's not like she ever expects to see these people again once they all graduate, save that one person she's been promised to spend the rest of her life with.
