Patronus: Sera is yet to learn the patronus spell though it will likely be a gorilla, as it embodies such things as intelligence, dignity and responsibility which are all important aspects of Sera's personality. The gorilla also symbolizes a sense of nobility, which Sera can relate to at least in her own eyes.

Religious Affiliation: As with the rest of the Donnelly family, Sera is a Roman Catholic. She attends service less and less all the time but continues to make the effort as she knows it pleases her father and she doesn't really mind going. Conflicts between her own true beliefs and the beliefs of the church however often prevent her from getting too involved, and has even started to distance herself a little from the church.

Detailed Description:
Sera has medium brown hair, but it can have almost a strawberry blonde or redish tinge when the sun hits it a certain way. Her hair hangs long and soft to just around the middle of her back, with a few long layers just to add volume. Sera's hair is also layered in the front, with pieces just short enough to frame her face when her hair is parted in the middle. She will very often part her hair just to the side, creating a side bang and rarely puts her hair up when she goes out. When lounging around her dorm, she often pulls her hair up in a messy bun or ponytail just so its out of her way.
Her skin is naturally pale, although not to the same extent as her sister, and during the summer months she is usually able to get a pretty good tan. Her skin-tone compliments her hair nicely and is smooth to the touch, rarely getting any blemishes. She has no freckles on her face but does have a few small ones on her arms and legs and will occasionally get a few light ones on her nose as she tans. Sera has high cheekbones and very angular jawline and chin. Her eyes are bright blue and round and her lower lip is slightly plump, whereas her upper is quite thin. She is a natural beauty and although she doesn't usually tend to wear a lot of makeup, she will occasionally wear mascara and a natural blush to excentuate her eyes and cheekbones. Formal events, such as dances, or academic ceremonies are really the only times she wears any more makeup then this.
Despite their age difference, Sera is slightly taller than her sister Tatum. Sera's mother was quite tall and she expects to still grow a few more inches before shes done growing, but currently stands at approximately 5'6. Her physique is slender, but not too thin; she is the type of person who can look totally athletic and fit, without ever working out. The only workout is ever gets is the occasional bike ride or hike, but its more for leisure rather than for the exercise. Her weight is distributed nicely for a fifteen year old, and she never really experienced that awkward stage that a lot teenage girls go through.
Sera is quite a logical person and doesn't care much about things such as hair and fashion, in the same superficial sense that most girls her age do. She believes that it is important to look respectable, and has quite a reserved sense of style. She is big on presentation and often worries about what people think of her based on her choice of clothing. Sera is big on rules and tends to keep her uniform simple, with very few accessories. She has her ears pierced, but has no other piercings and tends to only wear simple earrings.When not wearing her uniform, she still tends to dress in a similar fashion; often wearing things such as collared shirts, skirts, sweater vests, khaki and slip-on shoes. She is also big fan of blazers and has been know to wear a pants suit or two. Some would say her style is a tad pretentious, or even a little mature for her age, but it definitely makes her stand out as someone who wants to be taken seriously. In the summer, when she's not stressing about school she also has some what of a silly side, and will occasionally wear brighter colors and have a little bit more fun with style.

Likes: Politics, reading, bike riding, being top of the class, Hilary Clinton, music, magical biology, nature, mathematics, Starbucks coffee, her mother, rules and structure, chemistry, studying, research, The Breakfast Club, going to the library, tanning, traveling, General Hospital, campfires, romantic comedies, swimming at the lake, Ani Difranco, Lilith Fair, The City/The Hills.
Dislikes: Quodpot, tomfoolery, shenanigans, failing, breaking the rules (although she has been known to once ever so often), peas, bigots, the smell of cigarettes, Twilight and it's entire fanbase, class clowns, stinky feet, warm soda, and scary movies.
Quirks:
~ She's gotten over now for the most part, however a few years ago Sera would only eat foods which she considered gourmet cuisine. Since her time at CCI she has started eating a lot of junk food, especially when she's studying.
~ Like Tatum, Sera also hates dark chocolate but unlike her sister, Sera loves seafood. Especially lobster with butter sauce.
~ Although Sera is an excellent studier, she has a hard time focusing in complete silence, she needs to be surrounded by some type of noise, which is why she often likes to study at the library where people are always coming and going.
~ Sera is a proud Apple user, and she stands by it, from her MacBook to her iTunes.
~ Sera wishes to one day work for the Administration of American Wizards (AAW), just like her mother. She hopes to work her way and possibly be the head of the Bureau at some point in her career, and has planned to do this for quite sometime.
~ She absolutely cannot stand when people leave the top off of the toothpaste or when guys leave the toilet seat up. Her brother used to do it all the time and it has always been a huge pet peeve of hers.
~ Sera is terrified of thunder and lightning but growing up on a lake, has always loved going swimming in the rain.
~Although Sera is a very serious girl, she loves to listen to rap music. This tends to surprise a lot of people, who would expect her to listen to classical music or something much more light. Sera is also a big fan of feminist artists such as Ani Difranco and Tori Amos, and is expanding her music taste, especially after attending Lilith Fair with Tatum over the summer.
Secrets:
~ She has always been kind of jealous of her brother and sister; they have always had a much closer bond and she never really felt as close to them as they did to one another. She would never admit that to either Tatum or Rath, and she is happy that Tatum and her are becoming closer now that they're both getting older. She always wanted a sister who she could talk to about everything but was also always slightly standoffish towards Tatum.
~ She chose to attend CCI instead of Beauxbatons, her mother's alma mater, to be closer to Tatum. Not that she's likely to admit that to her sister.
~Sera secretly loves The L Word and has every season downloaded on her computer. Her parents especially her father would be very upset if they knew, even though she came out as bisexual to her parents over the summer (Her mother took it a little been then her father who acted like her didn`t hear her at all) they would certainly not approve of such a show.
~ Despite her expensive taste and reserved style, Sera has always secretly loved butter rice cakes with cheese whiz and lounging around in sweatpants. Rice cakes with cheese whiz are her favorite study snacks, and her roommate and possibly Tatum are the only people who know this about her.
~ Although Sera has the ability to make friends, her arrogance and her lack of time to spend with them often turns people off from her. Sera would be very unlikely to admit it to anyone, but sometimes this really bothers her and she frequently feels quite lonely. She wishes she had more close friends, and less acquaintances.
What's in your characters pockets?: Inside Sera's pocket, you would likely find her kindle, her iPod, a pack of gum, lip gloss, and her wallet complete with money and credit card. Additionally, the content of her backpack.
Strengths: Studying, research, writing tests, giving speeches, adapting to varying situations, speaking her mind, honest and trustworthy, over-achiever and very focused.
Weaknesses:Arrogant, stubborn, workaholic, doesn't like to be told she's wrong and especially hates when she actually is wrong, overly analytical, logical to a fault, has trouble relaxing and has never been particularly good at athletics or flying.
Strongest subject in school: History of Magic.
Weakest subject in school: Flying.

Detailed personality:
Sera is very intelligent and at times a little full of herself. Unlike her sister, Sera is not afraid to speak her mind or stand up for what she believes in. Although she is not afraid to tell you how she feels, she is very obedient and almost always follows the rules. At times she almost feels trapped in this image, but at the same time she prides herself on being 'the smart one'; the one all the teachers love to have in their class. Sera has always got excellent grades, except in flying class, which she took in Freshman year and to her great frustration, could just not seem to master. Like Tatum, Sera also does not have the best street smarts despite being much more outgoing and social then her older sister. She's very good at reading people and is rarely naive to people's motives, but at the same time can see the good in just about anyone. Sera is fluent in French, although she only really tends to speak it when she's trying to impress someone or when she's speaking with her mother.
From the outside, Sera is the type of person who seems to have her self all figured out, she appears confident, and determined. She sets goals for herself and does what ever it takes to get them done; but it's these very traits that often prevent Sera from being truly happy. She has difficulty relaxing and taking the time out of her busy study schedule to just relax and take time for herself. She always wants to appear her very best in the eyes of others and wants people to be envious but at the same time she enjoys being around people and is quite friendly. She is well aware of her intelligence, and is always willing to show off and flaunt it; which can sometimes turn people off of her, and has resulted in her losing a few friends in the past. She usually doesn't have trouble making friends but often does not have much time to spend with them.
Unlike Tatum, Sera can adapt to just about any situation and is very secure in her speech; she always seems like she knows exactly what to say, even if she's faking it. Sera wishes Tatum possessed some of these qualities which she prides herself in and believes are keys to lifelong success and will often nag Tatum to be more outgoing much to Tatum's dismay. For reasons such as this, Sera and her sister don't always get along as good as they could. They certainly do love each other and when push comes to shove, they have always had each others backs. Sera would always stand up for Tatum, especially since her sister is often to scared to do it for herself and the same could be said for Sera's friends. Once she is close to someone, she has their back no matter what and is very loyal.
Sera considers herself to be serious, yet down-to-earth and calm. She isn't upset easily in social situations but is the complete opposite when it comes to school; doing anything less than her absolute best is just not acceptable to her and she stresses almost continuously about school. Sera is a very logical person and tends to think about things rationally before making any serious decisions in her life. Her ability to do this and her love of politics make her very good at forming arguments and often winning them; which is why she loves the Debate club. She hates being wrong and can be very stubborn, especially when it comes to apologizing.
Sera sticks by what she believes is right, in both the muggle and wizarding worlds alike. Being a half blood, Sera is very intensely invested in the rights of muggles as well as happenings in the ABM. Her views are quite liberal, despite her background and her families affiliation with the Roman Catholic Church. She believes in equal rights for everyone, is a strong supporter of gay rights and is strongly against the belief of pure-blooded supremacy. Sera is somewhat of a feminist; she believes women can do anything men can, and hopes to prove that through her accomplishments. In 2008, although too young to vote, she hoped Hilary Clinton would have won the Democratic Nomination and the Presidency.
She rarely drinks, due to the fact that she doesn't tend to party a lot because she is usually too busy staying ahead in her class work. That's not to say that she doesn't like to have fun, she is just slightly more reserved and in her eyes mature then other kids her age. When she does get into the wine, she can sometimes act a little crazy, behavior most people even those close to her often wouldn't expect. She has only ever gotten in trouble a few times, but tries to stay out of it for the most part, since she hates disappointing her parents and teachers. In her spare time, Sera mostly enjoys reading, bike riding and learning random facts, mostly because she feels it makes herself appear more well-rounded.
Personal History-
Growing up in the same household, Sera had a very similar upbringing to her sister Tatum. They grew up in the state of Maine in the town of Portage Lake, raised by their father Mick and Sera's mother, Madeline. Mick, the son of first generation Irish immigrants was American born and resided in Maine his whole life. He is quite proud of his heritage and has always tried to instill the same level of pride in his children. Likewise, Sera's mother Madeline is also quite appreciative of her background. She was born in France, attended Beauxbatons and felt it important for Sera to be fluent in both French and English from a very young age.
Sera was born as her mother's first biological child and her fathers third, making her the youngest in their blended family. Her father was previously married to a woman named Claire, who gave birth to both Tatum and her twin brother Rath. Claire passed away soon after their birth from a sudden brain aneurysm. Madeline had been a family friend, who was living in America for work. She helped Mick with the process of losing his wife, and raising the twins. Eventually, the two fell in love, and were married soon after. The couple became the proud parents of Seraphim Madeline Donnelly-Rousseau on June 28th, 1995.
Sera's parents would often spend long hours working, and were often not around while the kids were growing up. Her father, is a muggle police officer and her mother works in for the Administration of American Wizards. She works for the Department of International Cooperation, more specifically with the Magical Office of Law. The three children were often looked after by a various babysitters, but thats not to say they all don't have close bonds with each of their parents. Madeline especially would make sure that she took time out from her busy job to spend time with Sera, causing her to grow up a bit spoiled and perhaps envied alittle bit by the twins. It is also this extra attention that gave her not only the confidence she exhibits today but also her arrogance. Growing up Sera was continuously praised for her accomplishments and was encouraged to believe in herself; she enjoyed having people aware of just how smart she was from a very young age.
Sera may have got extra attention from her mother, but she always felt a little distant from her other siblings. Particularly at a young age, Sera felt rather left out of the close bond that Rath and Tatum share. They all got along for the most part, at least no less than any other siblings around the same age, but she never really found herself able to connect with them on the same level as they do to one another. She knows she would never be as close to them as they were to each other, but with Rath being a squib and her and Tatum both attending CCI, she has certainly gotten closer to her older sister in the past year and overtime it is likely that their bond will continue to grow.
For as long as she can remember, Sera had been aware of magic. Madeline is a pure-blood witch, as is the rest of Sera's family on her mother's side, making Sera a half-blood. Despite her marriage to a muggle, Sera's mother never tried to keep magic out of the home and would often use magic in front of her children, so when Sera began to show signs of magic, it was far from strange to her. These signs began at a very young age for Sera, which impressed both her mother and her maternal grandparents.
Sera enjoyed and excelled in muggle primary school, and made friends easily during her years there but she was always anxious to become of proper age to attend a non-muggle school. Her choice to attend CCI however was not the easiest; she was given the choice of attending Beauxbatons, the school her mother had attended, or Crescent City Institute, which Tatum was already attending. Despite Madeline's wishes for her daughter to follow in her footsteps, Sera chose to go to CCI, and her mother respected her decision. She did her school shopping for her first year with glee and was eager to begin classes, even doing some early reading beforehand.
Sera cruised through Lower Institute, enjoying each new class and each new thing she learned, eager to find out where she would be sorted upon entering Crescent City Upper Institute, and was eager for more challenging lessons. She was the kid who always sits in the front row, raising her hand to every question the teacher's asked, and although she's calmed down a bit to some extent still is. During sorting, Sera was placed firmly in the Sonnier House, which came as a little bit of a surprise considering the differences between her and Tatum. Despite being at Crescent City for years now, she views school with that same wide-eyed wonder and glee that she had as a young child in her very first semester. Every break is spent counting down the days until she'll be back in class again. She always does her best in her lessons, never passes in a late assignment, and strives to be at (or at least close to) the top of her classes, whenever possible.
