My characters are Alina Vasquez, Dinadan Palmer, Dorrek VIII/Dorian Valentine, and Penny Pratchett.

1) The eldest, Aerona, wasn't born first. She's technically the second-born, but she aged quickly when she manifested the speed force and passed her older sister in age before they managed to get it slowed down to normal.

2) Gwendolyn, the first born, becomes physically ill when she size-shifts or tries to contact the speed force. Of her sisters however, she's the mastermind.

3) Ysabael, the youngest, wants to grow up to be queen of New Morlaidh. Fortunately, she's also the most adept at size-shifting.

4) Din is a terribly over-protective daddy, but tries to counter the urges with meditative techniques. It doesn't really work that well.

5) Each of the girls has a personal body guard who rides around in their backpacks or on their shoulders or something. The guards are occasionally recruited into "dolly playtime", and all of the other girls in school agree that doll time with the West-Palmers is the best doll time ever.

1) Alina insisted that she pick him up instead of the other way around, mostly so that their date wouldn't consist of her calming him down after he ran the gauntlet of her extended family.

2) A magical mishap resulted in a squirrel falling in very determined love with Will's left shoe. Eventually, it had to be teleported to another state.

3) The date was interrupted by a bank robbery, but they managed to get it dealt with before the movie started.

4) The movie they saw was about the third Blue Beetle. Alina almost got them kicked out of the theater because she was laughing too loudly at the inaccuracies.

5) A goodly portion of the end of the date was spent on the swings at a local playground.

	1) It happened at YJLA headquarters. 2) It almost didn't happen because they got into an argument about ring-based protection verses Earth condoms. 3) They did try to be quiet. But they really weren't quiet enough. 4) They did move to an actual room after round one. 5) Alina still grins widely every time she passes a broom closet -- any broom closet. 1) They get "introduced" in their civilian identities by mutual friends at college. The resulting coughing fit and hurried explanations result in those friends believing that they'd had an embarrassing one-night stand.

2) He has to run the gauntlet the first time he stops by her family's place, even though they're not dating.

3) Neither of them will ever reveal why the phrase "that is NOT a chicken" makes them both start snickering.

4) She always threatens to tell embarrassing stories about him at his wedding, but actually tells a really sweet one. And gets all sniffly too.

5) There's at least one future where she dies in his arms after a fight against Eclipso. They spend a lot of energy making sure that future doesn't come to pass.

1) She's really, really not expecting him to say "yes" when she asks him out.

2) To this day, neither of them is entirely sure how they ended up in Mexico. They certainly didn't walk there, and Alina doesn't remember casting any teleport spells after they met up. There wasn't even any major crime going on in the area -- they checked!

3) Mexican food, horchata, and star-gazing in the Mexican desert might not be burgers, milkshakes, and a movie, but they had a good time anyway.

4) Both of them end up blushing several times, but for entirely different reasons.

5) It ends with a mostly-chaste kiss, a wink, and an offer to let him be in charge of the next date if he wants.

1) Technically, neither of them actually asked the other out. Having an empath slam her book shut and shout "OH MY GOD, WILL THE TWO OF YOU JUST MAKE OUT ALREADY?!" in the middle of study hall turns out to be a handy way to circumvent that sort of thing while still getting the job done.

2) Within thirty seconds of the above-mentioned shouting, there was already a betting pool about how badly the date would go.

3) Most of the conversation portion of the date revolved around science, super-heroics, and their mutual inability to understand their peers.

4) The non-conversation portion of their date involved fighting crime. Because there's no way that their first date would not have been interrupted by crime. It also involved an explosion not caused by Penny, torn clothes, and one of the crooks peeing himself when he spotted Tyson.

5) Their first kiss was plastered all over the gossip rags and society pages, because in the heat of the moment they forgot that they were still in the middle of the street.

BONUS FACT:
6) Everyone who put money on them not having a second date got an email reading "SUCK IT" in sparkly pink letters, even though the betting pool was supposed to be anonymous.

1) They first meet and team up to find a little boy who was kidnapped from the city of Dallas a few days before Halloween. They find the boy before any harm comes to him.

2) She thought he was kidding when he introduced himself, and likewise introduced herself as "El Paso". The nickname stuck.

3) He has a standing invitation to join her and her family for Día de los Muertos celebrations, and she always makes a special trip out to tend to his grave.

4) Once they find her, Houston and Alina get on like a house on fire. That doesn't mean that the revelation about Dallas goes at all well.

5) She actually already owned most of his CDs before they met.

1) Alina's in the mood to pick a fight after a messy break-up and instructs her magic to teleport her somewhere that can happen. It drops her literally on top of Terry while he's ~~lurking in the shadows~~ gathering information.

2) The two of them spend much of the ensuing fight with the mooks bitching at each other, but also working together fairly well.

3) The revelation that Terry had also just gone through a messy break-up results in the two of them going bar-hopping together and getting a little drunker than they planned.

4) The following morning is quiet and awkward up until the point they agree that they should never mention this to anyone.

5) Things return to relative normalcy, though they get along slightly better afterward.

1) The weather's nice, she can fly, and he can bake -- if that doesn't call for a picnic, neither of them knows what does.

2) Discussion revolves primarily around science and the pros and cons of growing up with "unusual" families.

3) ...Okay, they also trade gossip about their friends. Of course they do, wouldn't anybody?

4) Dinadan gets a little sunburned while bird-watching.

5) They bonk heads the first time they try to kiss, which makes the subsequent attempts a little more difficult due to giggling.

1) She's genuinely surprised when their date isn't centered around masked escapades.

2) She's not surprised that Q gets the waitress to stick them in a corner where he can take the "gun-slinger" seat.

3) There are Bond jokes. Oh are there ever Bond jokes.

4) They actually get all the way to dessert before the bad guys make their standard hero-date interruption.

5) "We should do this again sometime, once you're sure I'm not going to lay eggs in your brain. You know how to show a girl a good time."

1) They have two boys, one biological and one adopted.

2) Ather, their eldest, was adopted when he was two years old. He can use the Atom technology, but as he's a full-blooded Katarthan, he can't grow to human size.

3) Kae, the younger (by a couple months) brother, worships his Grandpa Guy and wants to follow in his big stompy bootsteps to become a teacher.

4) Both boys are big (*rimshot*) fans of anything having to do with the Knights of the Round Table. The relationship between King Arthur and Sir Kay especially cracks them up.

5) They both also apparently have some sort of allergy to wearing clothes. Din is pretty sure that has to be Petra's genetics.

1) "I'm really, really sorry about trying to kill you. And for cutting your face and taunting you about it. Um. It looks like you did a good job treating it?"

2) Dueling lessons turn out to be an awesome way of turning near-tangible awkwardness to friendship.

3) Dinadan is a surprisingly good wingman, especially when the situation calls for baked goods. Or a well-placed headbutt.

4) "I suddenly understand why you twitch when someone mentions camping. Let's never do this again."

5) Tris is totally in love with the sound of GK's voice and will ride around on his shoulder at any opportunity.

1) "We've got him contained for the moment, but it's getting close. Did you bring more flame-throwers?" "Of course I did. Oh, that reminds me, I'm pregnant." "...What?!"

2) All of their kids are highly intelligent, though it's possible that they won't reach their mother's level. Dr. Karen Pratchett never got around to rewriting her notes about her own pregnancy experiments, and no one (herself included, eventually) really wanted to let Penny get too experimental.

3) Tom Storm has a great deal of leadership potential, but currently it's put to use primarily in riding herd over his younger siblings. He's recently manifested the ability to create an aura that absorbs any kind of energy that would otherwise do him damage. "Absorb" being the key word, not "dissipate". No one is sure what's going to happen with that energy yet.

4) Emmy and Blake are twins and they share a love for tinkering, but not much else. Emmy prefers biology and Blake prefers computers. Neither of them have manifested any abilities yet.

5) Junior is technically a clone from an alternate universe where Penny became a supervillain and was doing creepy things in tubes with that universe's Tyson's DNA. "It's not kidnapping, it's more like Child Protective Services. And let's face it, who better to deal with whatever potential weird-ass shit she's done to him than the two of us?"

1) "Excuse me, but I need to borrow your jacket and your face for a second." She snags his jacket off the chair, throws it over her shoulders, then stands on tiptoes and covers his mouth with her thumbs so that she can plant a stage kiss on him.

2) She offers to take him out to lunch for his help in taking out the supervillain who'd been trying to hunt her down when they'd met, though neither of them actually gets around to getting into their respective costumes.

3) Both arrive late to lunch, due to having to team up in their heroic identities for round two against above-mentioned supervillain.

4) Lunch itself goes smoothly, but the conversation stays fairly superficial. It ends with a real (chaste) kiss and mutual promises to keep in touch.

5) They find this really, really hilarious later during a YJLA-JSA team-up.

1) Alina spotted Pippi running around with a chainsaw during Blackest Night. It made her laugh and helped her keep fighting.

2) "Uh, hi, I'm here to see Dinah." "...Oh. My. God. You're a talking kitty!" "Yeah, magical accident. Can you-- ACK! Okay, hi, nice to meet you too, less hugging please?"

3) Sometimes, a girl really just needs to turn off her brain and sit on the couch and watch nature documentaries about cute animals. And a girl needs company when she does that.

4) Pippi's tiara doesn't thrum on Alina's nerves the way Lantern rings do. In fact, it kind of resonates with her magic. This, naturally, makes team-ups a blast and a half.

5) "So there I was, staring at the closed gate to fairy land and wondering what I was supposed to do for the next week. And then I thought "Self, you know a lady who would totally love to help take care of a unicorn". So here I am. Wanna help?"

1) When some weird ship thing comes whipping out of a hole in reality and crash-lands next to Titans' Tower, it's only natural that Titans and the people who come out of the weird ship thing fight, right? And if the girl in pink and black gets caught in Pippi's "first do no harm" beam, it's not like it's a terrible tragedy, right? At least it means she stops swearing about clowns...

2) After the fight's been concluded with the knowledge that no one's a supervillain, Penny runs off crying because the rest of Beta 5.0 is SERIOUSLY CREEPED OUT by the way she's acting under the influence of the tiara. Pippi goes after her to make sure she's okay.

3) Pippi might not be smart in the usual sense of the word, but she's a good listener and is entirely oblivious to blistering sarcasm.

4) She's also the first girl Penny's talked to for any length of time to say out loud that Penny and Tyson are a cute couple.

5) ...And, frankly, there's something about watching a really irritating lab-aid get pegged in the head by a letter from an alternate universe about how awesome kittens are that satisfies Penny on a deep, Lisa Frank-based level.
