Kibum had the world in the palm of his hand but never had much offered to him in his life. He had parents, lived with them and tolerated them as much as he could bear. They were his source to everything. Money, shelter, food. Everything he needed he got from his parents. He resented them for the majority of his childhood. They were wealthy, something he never quite understood but accepted all the same because it got him what he wanted. Kibum was a rather selfish boy after all, he had desires and needs like anyone else. His parents were far to busy otherwise. His father was a local politician in Los Angeles and his mother was a socialite. His parents were the type of couple that would have done well with their own reality television show. He was surprised that his mother hadn't been offered a spot on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Not that they actually lived in Beverly Hills. He and his parents lived in Bel Air and technically? It was a different neighborhood.
But despite the problems he had with his parents, as oblivious as they would continue to be, Kibum had little problem with everything else in his life. He took what he wanted, never bothering to ask for most of his teenage years. High school was something of a joke to him. He didn't take anything seriously and spent most of his time in the fashion classroom or in the backseat of some guy's car during the classes he would cut. Or the boy's locker room. Whatever was convenient for a quick hook up.
High school came and went fairly quickly though. Kibum, though never the most academic sort, graduated with a high GPA and had already been accepted into FIT New York as a fashion design major. However unrealistic his major was, it was what Kibum enjoyed doing the most. Art and fashion were the two things that kept him sane throughout high school and he wasn't just about to give it up. His parents were indifferent to the idea and sent him off without so much of even a goodbye. Kibum didn't care, as long as they were paying for everything? He couldn't even be bothered to give a fuck.
New York suited his lifestyle perfectly. It was like he had finally come home after a long leave of absence. Everything was falling into place and honestly, Kibum felt like nothing could really go wrong. Throughout the years at school, he met and networked his way through possibly everyone he could meet that worked in the industry. He found work at the fashion museum at FIT whenever he had time in his schedule. Kibum even found the opportunity to study abroad in Florence for a year and things only got better.
Kibum met him at a few fashion events. He wasn't even sure who he was but he was attractive and that alone kept Kibum's interest. The vampire thing freaked him out, he would never lie about that but he had little choice in what was bound to happen, not that he minded in the least. The perks far outweighed the downsides. Kibum hated the sun anyway but the thing he hates more now than ever is the constant hunger, something he never sat well with to begin with due to his own nature. But he can't complain, despite the fact that he now lives in a stupid loft in Brooklyn of all places.
