New Year's Eve Masquerade! For Tuesday

Octavius believed hiring someone to organise an event for him meant they would actually organise an event for him. Unfortunately, that notion proved to be a false one when the organiser left him high and dry in the middle of the month, but Octavius persevered. With the help of himself, Mira, occasionally Lottie Sweeting, and an army of lackeys, the night of the masquerade had come together as beautifully as possible.

Lottie had, for once, actually done her job, and at either entrance of the grand foyer were attendants handing out beautifully crafted half-masks to party-goers, and collecting them as people left. The ballroom was majestic and shimmering, the music was softly thrumming, the drinks were pouring, and the mood was infectious. All in all, Octavius thought, it was a satisfactory night to end a rather satisfactory year. After the chaos and excitement that had chased him all throughout 1983, he was rather happy to have had a (comparably) quiet year.

"Can you make sure Miss Warbeck is ready to begin?" he murmured to an attendant nearby who then scurried off. The Wizarding Wireless Network had, after all, promised a wonderful surprise at midnight! Octavius needed to ensure everything went perfectly.

The flash of a nearby photographer made Octavius scowl, annoyed was he at even the few press witches and wizards who had paid handsomely to be at the charity event tonight. The publicity was good, no one could deny that, and the masks concealed everyone's identity at least marginally so there was no grievous intrusion on privacy, but that didn't mean Octavius enjoyed their presence.

He rolled up the sleeve of his dress robe to check his watch, then his eyes darted back to the stage. It was five minutes to midnight! What, for heaven's sake, was Celestina Warbeck taking so long to appear onto an already dressed stage? Shaking his head agitatedly, Octavius cut through a path through the brightly coloured bodies in the mingling crowd to check on his star performer.

OOC Read this for questions, or ask me! Fluid time, so feel free to thread before/after kisses. Again, the "compulsion" to find your kissing partner kicks in 5-10 minutes before midnight and could be anything from thinking you should walk and get some punch to being mystifyingly sexually attracted to the masked stranger at your side. HAVE FUN! GO WILD ♥ AND HAPPY NEW YEAR'S MY GORGEOUS GALS.

Sloper Wedding!
She'd gone from hyperventilating in a brown paper bag as her sister rubbed her back to feeling like she could fly. Without a broomstick, of course. Brianna clung to Zach's arm as she watched their friends begin to jump onto the dance floor of their seemingly spur of the moment wedding. She had felt awful about not being able to share all the excitement, but knowing that there weren't going to be any photographers jumping out of bushes, and that their wedding photos were going to be their wedding photos was absolutely worth all the stress she'd endured.

"I'm glad you showed," Brianna said teasingly, leaning into Zach's side. What a fit that would have been had if he hadn't figured out that the wedding was in June and not July. Brianna's logical side was sure that she would have said something before the day, but her frantic, sometimes uncontrollable side still wanted to knock his head off for putting that fear into her head. What a boyfriend, she had.

What a husband, she had!

The thought made her smile though and she kissed Zach on the cheek, taking in a deep and happy breath of excitement.

Valentine's Day Gala!

Being the defending champs gave the members of the Caerphilly Catapults many obligations, like being the MC's of this rather lavish evening...or, rather, the boys had volunteered Carys to do all the talking as they stood and looked cute in their suits. It was a job that she didn't particularly mind, she'd been in the spotlight all her life, but she grew bored of introducing generous donors and the big-wigs of the league. Carys knew about all the politics that went on behind the scenes, so she put on a good face, but was definitely not shy about voicing her opinion on certain matters.

"Oh, absolutely," she said to the head of the refereeing committee, "But when you've got one ref on the offensive side, and the foul's committed on the far end of the defense's area....I'm just saying, we should probably be taking advantage of--oh, what's it called?" Carys winked at the man, and at the reporter listening in, "--magic?"

She laughed when he huffed and excused himself, and the reporter shook her hand for the great sound bit. Carys gave a little twirl (her dress had too many ruffles not to twirl), and leaned over the counter to order another drink. The sound of something like an amused snort made her turn her head, and she raised her eyebrows,

"Something funny?"

Anneliese, true to her anxious nature, continued to repeatedly brush the length of her hair down with her hands. It was Will’s birthday today, which would usually be more than enough for her to over compensate. Everything had to be perfect (they took birthdays in this household very seriously), and to add to that, she knew she had the best present she could give to him! So one could see how her anxiety for all of this was higher than usual!

Breathing quickly, Anneliese skidded around the kitchen table, arranging the contents again. The cake she and Henry had made this morning was perfectly frosted, Will’s gifts were circled around it, and they’d even had time to decorate the room a little! It was exciting, seeing all of this made her even more excited than she already was. What a complete difference than last time.

“Now when Papa comes in, we say ‘surprise!’” Anneliese turned to her son in his chair, raising her arms high in the air as she spoke. An encouraging smile formed on her face, and Henry gave a happy laugh. He had gotten so big so quickly in the last year--- it almost made her tear at the thought of him being an older brother.

“Surprise!” Henry repeated, mimicking his mother. Anneliese’s smile grew wider, then she quickly placed a single hushing finger over her mouth once it was obvious her husband had come home. Henry responded, and quickly quieted himself as well. Will was going to be so happy.

Not for the first time, Anneliese felt like an intruder in her own home. She slid as stealthily as possible out of her own bed, moving so slowly that at one point she felt like she hadn't been moving at all while holding her breath so forcefully it felt like her lungs were going to explode all to ensure that she didn't wake up Will. No, no, that would be bad. Thank Merlin he was a heavy sleeper, or else she was sure he would've woken up to the inadvertent kick she had given him after finally getting out of his reach and falling to the floor.

Frozen, she waited to hear him snore again before continuing to creep out of the room. Of course, Anneliese made a quick stop at Henry's room to make sure he was alright, but once that was settled she silently made her way to the task at hand.

Ever since Will had come home yesterday, he had been acting--- strange. That was the only way she could describe it, even after two days of pondering over it. And then--- Anneliese shook her head roughly, as if warding the thought away while she quietly tiptoed down the stairs to the main room. She didn't know what she thought she saw on his arm earlier today, but she would have sworn she saw lines or something, and then with the way he had been acting--- it could just as well have been a new mark she didn't know about or a tattoo for all she knew! But there was something else, in the pitt of her stomach bitting at her, telling her that--- that maybe she should get a second opinion.

Finally making it downstairs, she swiftly bent down to sit her knees in front of the fireplace. Despite already having the floo powder, Anneliese curled her hands into her lap, thinking one more time about what she was about do. She just needed someone to tell her she was being silly, and that there was nothing to worry about because it was probably just nothing. Her paranoia was just because of Fabian (at the thought of him, her stomach wrenched so uncomfortably it took her a few minutes to recollect herself), because of what was happening around them. And if that she flipped Will over to look at his left arm, nothing would be there.

Emmeline would know what to do, she always knew what to do. "Emmeline---- Emmeline!" Anneliese began to hiss the second the fire turned green. It wasn't that late to be making a call: Will had been very adamant about going to bed early, and not just because he had been tired from the day. Please respond, please respond.

MINISTRY OF MAGIC, EARTHQUAKE
Dirk loved his job, he did, but he loved Fridays even more. He still got to go in and work with the goblins (when they let him!), but he got to look forward to a nice quiet weekend of doing whatever he pleased. Lately it had been trying to get Derek to hang out with him, even though that usually just involved watching telly. It was something! Dirk was worried about his big cousin, especially now with the war getting so intense and--

He blinked curiously, as the shelves of his cubicle began to shake. Dirk's eyes twitched back and forth as he watched the pictures he had hanging drop to the floor, and the bust of Gorgak the Terrible started to inch forward and forward. And his desk was shaking, and now his chair, and Dirk was startled to his feet at the sound of someone screaming, "EARTHQUAKE!"

An earthquake! Oh hell, Dirk had just been thinking that some erumpents had escaped again! Earthquake! What was the first rule of an earthquake? These were NOT the things they taught you in Hogwarts! How was he supposed to survive an earthquake if he didn't have the proper training?! DEREK WOULD KNOW WHAT TO DO, THAT IS WHY DIRK WANTED TO REMAIN CLOSE TO HIM AND----

The bust of Gorgak the Terrible teetered off the shelf and smacked Dirk straight in the forehead, making him drop to the ground, and thankfully roll under his desk.

He really did love his job, he did.

Will!
Her husband was bound to try to come home eventually, it had been over a week now, and there way no way he had took enough clothes to last him that long. So, that meant all Anneliese had to do was wait for him to come knocking, and then slam the door in his face. Yes, she was waiting for exactly that. No new clothes, not even a step into the house. Nope, nothing. She had reaffirmed this to herself over and over again during the past week, every day letting her anger grow more and more to the point where she didn't even need to think about what had actually happened to get angry, just thinking about how angry she was was enough to get her going. So, yes! She was eagerly waiting.

Well--- maybe not eagerly waiting in the angry sense she wished she could focus on, because apart of her actually missed Will: him not being home meant not talking nor seeing him, leaving the house completely empty which made it increasingly harder to stay mad at every single moment. Of course she missed him, everything in the house was a reminder of him and-- for Merlin's sake, she was going to pop any minute with his baby, if that didn't remind her of him then she didn't know what else would. So, she was---

No. She was angry. Very angry. He didn't trust her judgement for her own son, he thought she was going to be irresponsible with Henry, he believed that she was a horrible mother already. What kind of--- how could he say that? She had more experience in the matter than he did, she had been watching over Aidan for years now! Well--- not as much now since he was much taller and smarter, but the point was she had read all the books and talked to all his sisters at any chance she could get to be ready for this and--- she had never doubted for a moment that he wouldn't be a good enough father, so how was that fair?

Tears began to spring in her eyes as she continued to put away the dinner dishes one at a time. Emmeline had just left, leaving with Anneliese little to do but either read, go to sleep, or try and wait up to see if Will would actually attempt coming home. Wiping her face (and her back hurt so much!), she decided to just clean the dishes. One step at a time. The next would be to get herself to stop crying, though that would be much more of an effort now that she had started.

Everyone!
Anneliese Jugson.

Even after she had time to officially get use to her new name, it still made her skin tingle. Anneliese Jugson, Anneliese Jugson--- she was finally married now. There was nothing else in the world that she could possibly focus on, or even think about, beside that this was her perfect wedding and she was now, officially, married to the most wonderful man in the world. Nothing could possibly even begin to bother her, because everything was perfect. Everything from the cake all the way down to their little green favors-- she wouldn't have changed one thing. Their guests were allowed to bring home everything, placeholders, centerpieces-- anything. Of course, that was to happen after she had stated it was alright to do so, and had one of her own to keep, but even then if they went home with nothing it wouldn't bother her that much.

Anneliese sighed happily as she sat, almost in a daze. Her dress still fit beautifully, and now she finally understood why brides were so adamant about no one else wearing white to a wedding; she felt nearly divine at this point.

Oh, she really did love weddings.

No, she really did love her wedding.

And Will, she loved him too.

Blinking herself out of her own haze, Anneliese slowly turned her head to face Will. "I love you," she cooed lowly, fingers reaching to lace with his. She really, honestly did. Anyone that could put up with her hysterical self like he did just days before the wedding most definitely deserved that, at the very least. Anneliese leaned forward to gently press her lips onto his for a few seconds before pulling back to smile.
