Face Time (With Zoe)
Angela read over the reports from each member of the Squad once they'd been filed, going over each account in detail. Three of the people on the team had a head for this type of work, but it was Zoe Torres' performance and account that interested her most. Angela had gone to the trouble of recruiting three seasoned killers to give the team some punch, but Zoe was hired mostly on her pedigree, rather than her talent, which was considerable.

Zoe, however, seemed as willing and eager to participate as the others. The paycheck might have something to do with it, but Angela also sensed something else about the girl that she needed to understand before it became an issue.

So she called Zoe to a recently purchased office building in the Triangle to discuss a few things. Checkmate wanted eyes in Star City and the knight in charge would arrive in a few days. For now, the Black King wanted Angela on the ground.

She waited for Zoe to arrive as a pot of coffee boiled near her desk.

The sale of a building in the Triangle was news to everyone, and especially Zoe. She expected things to change with the recent promises made, but she didn't count on things until they happened.

She'd hidden the pay from her first job from her mother. Michelle Rodriguez would not approve of her daughter's new career, and Zoe was already skilled in giving Mom what she needed to believe while trying to keep them safe. Mom was delighted that Zoe appeared to be making friends. She'd told Michelle that she spent the weekend with friends from college rather than the truth.

The money sat untouched in a bank account for the moment, though Zoe knew she would have to work on her mother to move into a better apartment.

She arrived at the new building wondering if this was a summons for a new job.

Zoe is sent to the back by the receptionist at the desk to meet with Angela. All around, handymen are hard at work restoring the building to make it safe for occupation.

"Just go on in. Miss Holt is expecting you." the blond woman says.

When Zoe arrives, she finds that this meeting is just her and Angela.

"Hi, Zoe. Thank you for coming. Can I get you some coffee or a muffin?" she asks.

"Just you and me, Zoe. I called you in because I realize that you have the least training of everyone on this team. I'm not saying you didn't handle yourself well. Quite the opposite, actually." Angela says.

"But there are going to be tougher missions coming up and everyone on the team needs to know how to move and when. You all have to work as a unit, yet know when to improvise to get the job done. I'm a little worried that your lack of experience could lead to a freeze at the wrong time and get you or someone else killed." Angela says honestly.

"How would you propose that we remedy this?" she asks.

	"I'm also the youngest, but I don't see anybody saying that I need a babysitter." Despite her words, Zoe knew what the woman was saying. "As far as I know, lack of experience is only fixed by experience. Maybe you don't realize it yet, but the Triangle is a gang war zone. I grew up here. You freeze here and you're meat." "A Russian mob boss turned up dead and the building he lived in blew up. Then, there was a scuffle between a few super-types." Angela says, looking for the file.

She finds it and pushes it across the desk to Zoe.

"This all happened not long after the mission. Oh, and someone blew open Super Max. Several of the lifers they had there are out on the streets now...and Warden Tina Penstrel died during the riot." Angela says.

"At least three former inmates are hiding here in the Triangle, currently."
