A Song of Wind and Fire
Traya had left the Secret Sanctuary not long after her break-up--or whatever it had been--with Jai. In the end, it didn't really matter. She knew things had changed, maybe beyond repair. With tears in her eyes, she probably wasn't in any condition to fly, but the rush of air felt good on her face.
She'd been so happy when she'd discovered Jai was alive again. For a minute, it had felt like all the pain she'd gone through, between his death and that horrid zombie that had worn his face, was gone. She should have known it wouldn't be that easy, that things couldn't just go back to normal like nothing had happened, no matter how much she'd wanted them to.
All she could think of was her mother's words when she'd first started dating, saying that Jai was too young for her, didn't know what he wanted. She was sure that wasn't true. She remembered just as well how Jai's own parents had been dubious about their relationship.
Dammit all.
She dropped down in Happy Harbor. Her stomach was growling and she realized she hadn't had anything to eat for lunch today. One more thing. Great.
